The most powerful U.S truck engine that exists at the moment is the Cummins X15 Performance, which has 468-668 ft. lbs. of torque less than Scania. If a truck that long is lifting with 200+ hp less and up to 668 ft. lbs less then it’s only because of insanely low gearing, not engine specs. The most powerful Scania engine for sale right now has 730 hp and 3500 nm or 730 hp and 2580 ft.lb / sq.ft. Sweden generally allows trucks with a total weight (trailer, cargo and truck together) of up to 60 tons, but there are exceptions where a weight of up to 80 tons are allowed, while the weight limit in the US, as I understand it, is 36 tons. Heavy duty Scania trucks can be optimised for a GWVR of up to 90 tons.

Unsynced boxes also weigh less than syncros. US truck operators are VERY conscious of the empty weight of their trucks. We don't use double frames for highway use, they are found mostly on dumps and mixers. Air suspension is common on most new heavy duty trucks in the US, even dumps (Although they can't take the abuse that a Hendrickson or Mack Camelback suspension can). We also use single-reduction axles, which are simpler and save weight.

To prevent wheel lift like this the rear rear axle is pressed down. We have a serious problem with sentral european semi trucks coming to, in my case Norway, with the turntable to far forward. It's hard to realize but sadly you only have to listen to any trucker out there driving a Scania or Volvo truck. Compared with any US made truck .. there's lot more satisfied customers with almost any truck made in Europe. This because we build for all conditions .. and we don't use cheap crap materials. The only company that can build engines in US is Ford .. and I've yet to hear them building a real heavy truck.
@chuckdodge4766
9 жыл бұрын
Dreem Walker I think you are forgetting about the Cummins and Cat. Those are real serious diesel engines made to do just about anything you can imagine with them. Cummins is used in everything from pickups, to generators, to semi's and im pretty sure they even put them in ships but don't quote me on that. They put cat engines in trucks bulldozers, as in the big monstrous suckers that literally rip earth apart (go look up a cat d16 lets see a Volvo or scania engine do that) huge dump trucks (go look up the cat 797 dump truck) once again lets see a volvo or scania engine do that. Yeah Volvo makes a good truck like greg Huntley said but you still cant beat a cummins or a cat. And as far as more satisfied drivers in European trucks, have they ever driven a Peter Built, kenworth, international, freightliner or a mack? Proabably not. We in America import a lot of things and of all things to import don't you think we would import European trucks if they were better as much as we ship? Plus our trucks don't look like someone punched it in the nose and performed emergency plastic surgery with an exacto knife. Our trucks are a statement. You roll up in a great big PeterBuilt triple axle with a cummins and chromed everything people notice and a lot of people will compliment. Have you ever been complimented on your scania? I seriously doubt it.
@dreem1walker
9 жыл бұрын
Chuck Dodge You sadly are not aware of the circumstances and politics around import and export of goods between countries?! Any expert in macro economics will tell you that in order to save jobs, countries like the US have and will always do what they can to support jobs staying within national borders, even if it makes supporting businesses and production of lesser quality products - but covering it by repeating the false sense of quality "made in the US". I can tell you that it has been misused over here as well. Jens of Sweden did us all a very bad favour selling cheap quality Chinese mp3 players with a designer shell around it. But if you start talking about true hardware like tools and inventions, as well as research and education in advanced technologies and medicine (for example), any professional within these areas will confirm that a very great deal of the true top advancements .. has it's origins form Sweden. Per capita, we also have more inventions (not single patents but the basic concepts) than US can ever match - without stealing and copying just as bad as they accuse China for doing). The industrial espionage done by US companies .. equals only by China, that's a very unofficial but well known fact amongst companies around the world. If they ever try to break into the US market .. either pay for boatloads of lawyers to protect your patent as long as you can, or make partner with a US corporation .. and cash in fast cause within 5 years .. expect to be betrayed and sold out. I could reverse your questions by asking you: Why do you think nobody outside the US uses trucks (not super heavy ones now) made in the US but rather European brands (expect in asia)?

So much torque is needed for doing a wheelie on a vehicle especially semi trucks because:- Of its weight, tyres because of traction, extra hauling height, inclined - aginst gravity and against wind. OMG I can't believe how much torque and BHP does that semi - truck have?

Interesting design for the tractor to wheel up like that. It would have been impossible if the 2 rear axles where suspended from the same rigid frame. There has to be some kind of joint system allowing vertical flex between the leading and trailing rear axles. For this to happen, a few conditions have to be met: 1)Lead rear axle is the drive axle. 2)Tralier hitch must be directly on top or behind of flex system or else the cab would have easily swung right or left..

Ancient technology, what a lark. You guys do realize that North American trucks are just as advanced as yours? We're using SCR/EGR technology to meet similar emission standards. Our multiplexing communication speeds are similar. Believe it or not, we have actually had ABS technology for trucks since the 70's and has been mandatory since 1997. We have RSC and ATC systems on our trucks (available as an option, not mandatory as of yet). We also have automatic 18 speed transmissions as well. The only thing you guys have bragging rights over is you get a few extra ponies. If we wanted to match your HP, all we need to do is have the ECM reprogrammed and we'd have 700HP too.

The intention of my original comment was to simply put some real facts out there unlike every other comment on here being "European trucks suck" or "American trucks are garbage" with no real statement to back up the claims. Personally I prefer American brands being that's what I grew up around. I was in no way trying to talk down the European trucks. I will say though that live tandems (6x4) and tridrives (8×6) are a must have in the part of Canada I live in due to the large loads we haul and the conditions. Sometimes the trucks are diff deep in mud and you need three drive axles to get you through.

+Isak Johansson The trucktrain in the vid is about 24 meters, so yes they may need to be. And Sweden has about the most loose rules in Europe concerning truck lengths, height and weight. It´s road trains that aren´t necessary in Sweden. Also, the main reason we don´t use Kenworth, Mack and other unnecessarily big semis, is that in the US they count the allowed length of the truck from the start of the cargo to end of the train, but in Sweden we count the allowed length all the way from the front to the back.

Sweden generally allows trucks with a total weight (trailer, cargo and truck together) of up to 60 tons, but there are exceptions where a weight of up to 80 tons are allowed, while the weight limit in the US, as I understand it, is 36 tons. I thought l9nger was allowed on public roads, but just not practical
We also use single-reduction axles, which are simpler and save weight.
crazy how these trucks are still so common on the roads
14 years later, the video is still awesome
@ryan0929931 The power is there, when he shifted from 1st to second it nearly stalled. That gives us an idea about the weight at the back. But it kept accelerating up the hill like a boss without the crawler or first gear. That truck has some serious torque...
let me see, in Sweden and Finland the standard truck can be 25.25 m (83 ft) long, logging trucks in Sweden up to 30 m (98 ft), but by now they already test roadtrains with a total length of 75 m (246 ft)

@chuckdodge4766

@miscellaneousmemer1016

Not that much actually. Only about 500 - 700~ BHP, and about twice that in torque. For a 13 liter engine, that's not too much, but it's plenty for what it does.

truck wheelies go hard
How ETS2 expects you to play: Drives slowly and safely to ensure your cargo does not get damaged Me:
Interesting design for the tractor to wheel up like that. It would have been impossible if the 2 rear axles where suspended from the same rigid frame. There has to be some kind of joint system allowing vertical flex between the leading and trailing rear axles. For this to happen, a few conditions have to be met: 1)Lead rear axle is the drive axle. 2)Tralier hitch must be directly on top or behind of flex system or else the cab would have easily swung right or left..

Daniel Allen this is true! long as there is no nose, so there is no counterweight up!however, a European truck is much easier to work with because it does not need a football field in the turns, reversing! still carry more of the burden than their U.S. counterparts!This little short ass Scania huge burden can quickly dragged silently with little fuel! that's the point!

Engine didn't EVEN FEEL ANY STRAIN by the sound of the engine sound!!!

The fact that the truck is pulling wheelies, only means the trailer is too heavy for the truck, aka it hasn't got enough power 😂

Who's gonna tell him Scania trucks are made in 6 other countries, and three other continents other than Sweden?
Listen up americans Scania isnt made for USA, it does'nt need to be 20 meters long and they don't need to make black smoke but they are good at what the're doing. By the way we can't use Peterbilt's, Kenworths or Mack's in sweden, they are too big.
@TomteBlommor
