Learn the basics of Power BI in this video aimed at beginners and go from nothing to building your first dashboard in just a few minutes! Just like in our Tableau videos, we walk through how to connect to data, create calculations, create visualizations and layout your dashboards, all in a few minutes and using the 2024 version of Power BI.
The first step is connecting to a CSV file with hotel booking data from Kaggle, and we share the preview in Power Query, although we don't do any dats manipulation. The second step is to create new columns to calculate some things missing from the dataset, and to calculate an aggregated field correctly. Then we create a couple of basic visualizations to explore the data.
We do some calculations with the date demonstrate how to drill up and drill down a date hierarchy, create a line graph, and finally add a filter and header to finish off our first Power BI dashboard!
