Power antenna mast replacing in Mitsubishi pajero nj sfx 2 8 2011
This video is about un boxing and installing a new antenna ( MAST only), The Mast ( Extendable steel pipe ) in the vehicle got bend by hitting a tree trunk, So the mast was removed by cutting it from the vehicle.
The new mast was bought from Australian eBay website, The main problem is finding the correct part number for the indian pajero sfx in the international.
The Mast didn't fit the well, it is protruding half an inch, this is may be due a small part of nylon rope of the previous mast was not completly removed or the mast was not the correct one for this vehicle.
Over all it is working good, The radio reception got improved to excellent.

Hi, thanks for this, when you pulled out the old antenna i didnt see the nylon teeth. Why were they not attached to the antenna and where did they go?

Thank you for your appreciation, If you didn't see the nylon teeth means, it got cut from the top the antenna itself. My suggestion is to switch on the radio to power up the antenna or if the antenna is powered by a dedicated switch, switch it ON, Now the motor inside the antenna will try to push the NYLON teeth out. if you didn't see the nylon teeth coming out but you can hear the antenna motor running noise means, the nylon teeth got stuck in side the motor by wrong winding and it is unable to come out. My suggestion is you may try few times it may come out. Hope you can get a clear picture now. All the best..

If on the old Antenna the teeth are still attached and running down inside the hole, how do you remove it in order to put the new one in?

Hi, I have sold the vehicle which i explained in the video, Here are my suggestions: From your point, i feel that the Plastic tooth has got cut in the Middle, so the FEW CENTIMETERS of PLASTIC TOOTH near to the motor is still inside the antenna. Option One : Remove the ANTENNA STEEL POLE as i have shown in the video, After that be near the antenna, ask another person to Switch ON the radio to power up the antenna (or if you have a separate switch to power the antenna turn it on), so the motor will try to roll out the plastic tooth, as soon as you can get the plastic rope out, try to PULL it GENTLY along with the motor running , it will come out. Option TWO : In some antenna, the plastic rope are fixed with screw or clip, in that case you have to disassemble the motor and replace the rope, BUT MOST of the POWER ANTENNA are option ONE type. Hope it HELPS, still have any queries or doubt comment below, will reply you. ALL THE BEST to have SUCCESSFUL REPLACEMENT.

Hi what to do if the nylon cord is stuck in the motor? It will not come out. Why is that.. Do I need to dismantle the motor?

@@jerryplopez You just have to pull back the trunk liner and unbolt the motor from the car and then open it up. KZread it cause i don't know off hand the socket sizes. It's pretty simple though once you get started.
