I love this era (1990) it's when the boards first started having noses as big as the tail and they were finally ollieing into their grabs instead of early grabs, putting a lot more power and style into tricks. The transformation from the 80s into the 90s.

Loving seeing this again, I'm back skating at 46 and getting a lot of the old skills back from back in the day, fitness is key and the ability to take the pain 😃 landing 360 flips and others now, first time was horrendous and thought I would never move again the day afterwards Ban this and Propoganda were the ones I remember the best, Streets on Fire with Santz Cruz was also epic

The thing is that that kind of nostalgia, which anything Stacy films is filled with, covers up the fact that skating and southern california, since like the 70's and things like pacific ocean park falling into ruins, always felt like it was dying and would never be as good as it was....theres some truth to that feeling but its also been proven wrong every day when kids continue to go skate and we all continue to love watching great skate videos! Its the same force thats behind the whole "music was better in my day" argument...nothing will ever come along and replace the things that made you feel so good as a kid....and if they ever do its gonna take a while for the same kind of memories and nostaligia to build up. You might be able to appreciate the skill right away but it the new stuff wont feel the same until you have some of the same nostalgia for these times as we do for things "back in the day"...

I remember this video from around 92 or so and Colin's part always stuck with me, that and Frankie Hill's ollie down what seemed like a mountain at the time. That ollie still today is friggin HUGE!

This movie was released in 1990. The park in the vid is Richmond sk8 ranch owned by Kevin Herras first pro sk8er in Canada. The large vert ramp was from the expo 86 competition ramp ( see radical moves ). The location for the ranch was in an industrial area, Colin must of lived closer than me bc I want every 3 weeks and Colin and his brother had a seasons pass & always there. I was a few yrs younger & he would do a transfer off a big ramp to the ramp I’m skating and get mad at me, the teens would laugh. The ranch was gone not long after that. Colin has a small bit at the ranch in Public Domain.

Truly last great video from Powell, my favourite one. Frankie Hill was doing great stuff at this stage, possibly the first guy who turned pro only from videos without going into contests, and the first guy who really introduced the going big stuff on video, later developed by Duffy and Markovich. Of course 1 year later with the Blind Video first, and in 1992 with the Plan B video skateboard really went in other direction and it wasn't fashionable being a Powell guy.

Tony Hawk talks about that in the Hawk VS Wolf podcast on here. It was just expected, in the same way TG was expected to skate the Chin ramp even though he was a street guy. He also says it wrecked him and he had to give it up because it was affecting the [vert] skating he was actually gifted at, even though vert was dead/dying. It's a great podcast and well worth a listen.

Back when Skating was FUN. By thr time we got to Plan B and Blind and the like the skill level was way up but the attitude of skating had soured. People like Rocco ruined skating as much as they progressed it.
