Ойын-сауық
Its time to restore and do some powder coating to the front brakes and service the calipers and suspension. I've always enjoyed the challenge of a difficult take apart, perhaps because the result is so rewarding. I enjoyed watching your techniques and professionalism. Excellent video editing.
what a lovely job its nice to see something rusted and knackered being brought back to life and put back into service rather than being scrapped.Watching you do this martin is poetry in motion, Many thanks for the upload .

It may be that some people have taken umbrage at the use of red rubber grease (vegetable based, intended to lubricate rubber seals etc.) on the caliper pins when most opinions seen to favour a silicone based dielectric grease that won't wash away from the pins causing them to msybe seize. Or it could just be 6 tw@%$! 😁

@@familyplans3788 not the entire shield glowing red hot..... you ruined the brakes once they get that hot and need replacing..... if you heat metal like that it ruins it. One thing if it was thick metal and he only heated the bolt..... I refurbish antique cars and would be fired for that....
What an amazing transformation, and great to be able to see it being done from start to finish, nice work!
Lots of critics! Coming from someone who doesn't have a shop of their own, I really admire the amount of equipment you have. Every tool for the job, speaks volumes of your experience! Thanks for the satisfying video.
I don't know why I enjoy this sort of thing so much but I do . I appreciate anyone who has the skill and patience to work with their hands and you always do a good job on anything you work on . I've never seen you say that will be good enough , Whether you are fixing and old lawn mower a kids toy or this old car . Thanks
Really beautiful job of restoring that old caliper.
It makes my day when i see any one of your channels videos come on, keep them coming

Excellent job! In our throw away world it’s good to see someone else that will take the time and do the labor rebuilding themselves. 👍🏼👍🏼 from this guy!
Great video Martin. With all the right tools and parts the job was a breeze. Looking good can't wait to see the finished car. Cheers, Jeff.

I've always fancied a black and red Avon Acclaim Turbo, kinda a proto MG Montego, reminds me of my 85 Civic Sports S which was deep black with red highlighting and red panelled black seats and door cards. It was what the Acclaim could have been if they had factored in a 2 dr version or Triumph badged the Civic into a hatch. I swapped my Civic for a 3.0 Ghia MK3 Capri which had an insane blood red interior but the exterior was silver with a vinyl roof and a thirst that was unbelieveable, had enormous pulling power though and whipped up to the ton fairly rapidly, oh I did love that Capri.

When you say pulling power? I used to have a 2.0 Capri Laser. Didn't pull anything driving about in that. Mind you it only cost 200 quid!

I had a 2.8i Capri in my youth (I was about 25 and this was in the early 90’s). Think I was the only one that liked it, got loads of stick. If only I had it now.....

You were supposed to put the grease to the guiding pins. Used the break fluid to lubricate the piston. The grease would contaminate the break fluid.
@jimosullivan1389

No it wont.......Red rubber grease is compatible with DOT3/4 and 5.1 brake fluids. No mineral oils or greases may be used in places that come into contact with brake fluid.

great video the caliper dust shields are a real BEEP to install. I found the rubber grease far too slippy and resorted to clean brake fluid . i trust you replaced the retaining clips the correct way around . I always seat the brake pad stainless steel guides using copperslip grease . but what do I know I am a 76 year old and still mechanicing . Quite a lot slower now .But still enjoying it .

That was most impressive Mr Hax well worth the 30 mins, can you help me with a 'slight problem?' I have a 1982 DeLorean and the Flux Capacitor is playing up a bit. Ok, buying a box of broken biscuits from woolworths for 3d is a bargain but not quite what I need.
Impressive and meticulous work. But I always knew to use brake fluid when pushing in the caliper piston, won't putting the slider pin grease on the piston and inner seal contaminate the brake fluid system when it is back in the car? I was wondering.

Where did you get that little anvil ??
DO NOT USE this loctite 2700 threadlocker. It has very high streght and if you wanna demount it will be a problem. You need the to heat up the threaded connection to 250 degrees C.

Съёмник для подшипников стоит не дорого. И не надо будет с отбойным молотком извращаться... Ps тем более не понятно зачем рисковать деталями, если набор съёмников есть.
