when I was young, I worked hard, I always had 10 k or more in my account, And I never went for food stamps, never went on dole, never went to beg. Not to this very day, I didnt make it big time cause I didnt suck ass. But I have a free life and I can speak my mind, and I own property. Work is the only way to get you out of misery,

My mother raised us like this. We had no running water, our house was filthy. I made sure that I broke the cycle of poverty by getting a good education and a good career. When I felt frustrated and wanted to quit, I thought about my childhood and pushed my way through.I made sure that my children had the very best and they have all graduated college and have great jobs. The cycle of poverty/depression can be broken. It is hard work but it can be done. Hopefully her children can break this cycle.

For an educated person, you sound ignorant. Depression is not always cured. Meds, therapy, quality life help with some aspects of life, but some people don't get to run away from depression. This girl is traumatized and deeply depressed. Stay humble.

John Doe You need healing and deliverance for your mind. Please reframe from using profanity because children read these comments and looking up to adults for learning! If you would plant a seed sending her even if it's only $5 that will start a chain of blessing for her. look at condition of that house she pays rent in. What do u have to say about the landlord? PRAYER and help is needed! Where is your LOVE? .

@living my life like it's golden True but it's not that easy to get up and leave, with kids with no place to go. This is a child that don't know if she's coming or going and the poor kids just getting dragged right behind her and have the faintest idea what's going on, all they know is they're with mom. This young lady probably wouldn't even know how to buy a bus ticket or where to even go, that's why she moved from one house to the house next door.

John Doe I pray for you in your ignorance of NOT having knowledge needed before making comments. Did you know there are additives put in food causing young females to develop sooner than what they should, antibiotics in milk and meat, estrogen added in CAN goods causing me to have female tendencies. Our bodies goes through puberty at some level of aging. Did you know Black people got their land and houses taken from them or they were cheated out of it by white back then threaten saying (you have one day or maybe more to pack up your things,.they didn't even offer them Help just what they had AND get off their own land... of they didn't they would set the house in fire with the family in there). Today,.a lot of that land blacks live on paying rent belong to their ancestors. Now what you think about that? If there were no greedy heartless OPPRESSORS in the world and equal distribution of.goods and service was given out like the LORD created this world..you would not see people in the shape they are in now! Be careful how you talk about anyone because those same people might have to come to your rescue. You could get sick,.have accident and can't reach back and wipe the poop off your butt and one of them come in knowing and remembering what you said about them when they were down and out. GOD SITS high, he see and know our thoughts of good and evil. I still love you with the Joy of the Lord! You owe this young beautiful lady and.her children a forgive me. I am praying asking GOD PSALM 51:10 for you and others!

I'm from Batesville Ms not to far from here and I wouldn't dare judge her... I'm a single mom of two 19&6 and it's not easy but I go to work everyday and thinking about getting a second job because there's things I'm trying to achieve for my girls! I lost my mom almost 5yrs ago today is her Birthday 6/5 and I still have my father 🙌 but they taught us compassion and to never ever look down on ANYBODY! Mississippi seems to be equipped to be a certain way because sometimes in these small towns it's not about what you know (education wise) it's about who you know and what you do💁... You have to live here to understand that Trust Me! My prayers go out to her and her family... God Bless you all two times fold!

Some of the comments here are really painful to read. Judgement should have no place here. Only compassion. You never know when you may find yourself on the street yourself. You, like anybody else is about 2 paychecks from poverty. There are x millionaires living on the street and standing in welfare lines now. If you took the time to understand why things are like this for quite a few people living in this United States Corporation, you wouldn't be so quick to put fellow human beings down. I'm willing to bet most of these comments come from people who claim to be Christians and going to church hooping and screaming about how saved you are. Well, maybe you need a reminder of a few quotes. "There before the Grace of God go I", "Judgement is mine says the Lord", or " I AM my brothers keeper" just to state a FEW... Really pisses me off to see and hear the complete lack of compassion for people who would just like a shot at pulling themselves up for a better way of living. Learn the truth about the politics, monetary system and who is really running this planet and maybe you'll begin to understand that the system is not nor will it ever be designed for anybody to win except the crooks who created it. Everybody is on the hit list of the federal banking system that runs this world and they control everything. If you think this can't be you next, then you better think again. Oh, and KARMA, always comes to collect from those that seem to have lost their hearts and judge others when they are at their lowest. Just when you need a hand up, you'll receive a kick in the a** instead. Really sickening !!!!

When we drove up to Georgia to get her belongings out of the house she rented the Slum Landlord had the nerve to come by to make sure we weren't taking things that he allowed my sister to use. I had to be led out of the house because I was so upset at how she chose to live. Young lady if you see this post I beg you to please get out of that town. There's better for you and your children. So the men are worst off than the women. Lets not forget how white supremacy still reigns supreme in these parts of the south. Send this lady and her children to Raleigh, North Carolina with me. I will help her get on her feet. Feel free to send the children's father as well. There are still some black women out here who understands the struggle of being a black man in America. Teach them to garden and at least how to clean up their homes even if it is dilapidated . Handouts are temporary and there are no jobs they have to be taught to be self sufficient.

And are those people reporting this, going to help her or see to her getting help? This really makes angry!!

Okay, being poor is one thing and being flat out nasty and trifling is another....There's no excuse for the trash on the floor,NONE!!!! Have some pride and dignity, it doesn't cost a penny....My mother, the most beautiful, brave, strong, loving woman I've ever known grew up in poverty. Grandparents had 16 children 2 bedroom house. Sometimes no food, no electricity, no running water....nothing but the hunger pains in their stomachs. Not to mention an abusive alcoholic father who made their live even more miserable...Especially since my grandmother allowed it.....anywhoo with that being said....what little they had it was clean, my mother said they would get water from the neighbors hose to clean, hand wash and line dry laundry, bathe and flush the toilet...not to mention keeping the outside neat and clean....My mother grew up under some pretty rough conditions with a childhood I'm sure she wishes she could forget but poverty for them never turned into filth.....My mother at 16 decided to become her own woman. She got a job, finished HS with honors. Went to college, studied nutrition, got a degree, married my father and had 4 beautiful kids.....They gave us a good life private schools, yearly vacations, birthdays, Christmas, etc,etc,etc.....My point is......you can't complain about your situation and do absolutely nothing about it...What would motivate me to help someone who refuses to even pick up trash off the floor?!?! Come on!!!

BixbyLBC maybe sometimes people fall so far they don't know how to get up? No amount of money will fix that. My parents grew up without running water and my dad didn't have electricity until he moved to the city. But they knew how to set priorities and what it took to make something from nothing. And passed it on to me. There were plenty of times I couldn't afford lights or water but I had to pay tuition so I made do with what I had...because I had the best people to help me...not financially because they couldn't, but with advice. Everyone doesn't have people like you and I did.

Rose Stewart ......people will make up a million and one excuses if you let them....if you've fallen so low in life where you can't as a woman and mother, provide at least a clean environment for your children then not only should you stop complaining but you need to have your kids taken because there's no excuse......you can join her pity party if you want to but if she really wanted a better quality of life, she'd start with trying to make the best of her current situation and try like hell to do better.......her kids should be motivation enough....

This young mother doesn't mention the father of her children. And my feeling is that she is also depressed. But I also wonder where is the father of her children? She shouldn't be doing this alone!! And who will help this mother pay for child care so that she can find work or go back to school! Anyone can do better with help; and she needs it! The screen door is busted... it rains inside the house... there's holes in the ceiling! It seems she lives alone and raises the children without their father and I can only surmise that this leads to depression; and too often Black women are left raising children without any help from the father. Some of these fathers are just missing in action, avoiding responsibility or locked up in jail. However, I'm also noticing how clean, well dressed, well spoken and mannered her children are. For this reason, I don't think the trash on the floor is indicative of her being a lazy and dirty person; I think she is a depressed and lonely person; and who wouldn't be under these gloomy conditions?!! I think a lot of times we make judgement calls without giving a balanced stream of thought in consideration of several things happening in a person's life at once! As poor as they are, they are making the best of their lives; the children look healthy, clean and adorable; and they are aware of the things that are wrong and surrounding them. They are outspoken about it; and their Mom is their one and only role model. Lets have a little mercy for each other.

To the people who don't understand, the system will always chose the cheaper option. Let's say she gets $1000 for rent&food assistance. If we cut those benefits until she gets into a job program, she loses her place and the kids have no food. They're forced into a shelter or maybe her kids go into foster care. If letting her be is cheaper than paying $1900 monthly to foster parents and paying a job/career counselor, they will let her be.

@@1trackswanson You can't judge what you do not understand. I am from this community from which she comes, so I know the issues she faces better than you. Jonestown sits in the Mississippi Delta. The Delta is the hotbed of poverty. Look it up. Unemployment is rampant, therefore, poverty is high due to lack of employment opportunities. Her town is a little isolated community, with no public transportation, no grocery stores, hospital, and no real businesses except a few corner convenience stores and maybe a laundromat. There are a couple of churches there too. There is little room for growth here. If you don't know anyone or have support in some way, it is impossible to live here. She gets government assistance because it's the only way to survive here. And it's been this way for a very long time. Not a lot has changed since those old sharecropping days of our grandparents. This is why people who can afford to are moving away. It's for economical growth. Don't be so quick to talk down on someone when you don't know all to the situation. You even have to get pregnant here for support from the system, because the system only help people with children 💔.

When you are in poverty in a city or metropolitan area, you still have plenty of resources available to you such as public transportation, charitable organizations that help families in need, counseling, vocational rehabilitation and a lot more. Living in poverty in a rural area is a whole nother monster and probably the most depressing thing ever. Like she just said there's no public transportation, a lot of small towns like where I'm from in ga lack government buildings for things like assistance and even something as simple as identification documentation and the closest one is a 30 min drive, and a lot of other shit. I know some people that left this same situation but the transition was a bitch and that's if you able to find a way to where you going because greyhounds don't even come to a lot of rural areas like this one. Someone in a situation like this best bet is to just pack up a few things and go to a city where you can at least get some type of help. You might be on the street a couple of days, but moving forward in this type of situation while living in the country is almost slim to none.

Eleven years later I believe the kids get on here and read the comments so my message to y’all is learn from y’all experience and know that blaming someone else ain’t going to help y’all. Stick with y’all’s mom like she was sticking with you. Clean up every chance you get carry yourself like you got it and feel good about yourself.
