Peaches Restaurant | Mississippi Roads | MPB
Willora "Peaches" Ephram opened Peaches Restaurant on Farish Street in 1961. During the Civil Rights Movement, Peaches Restaurant served as a safe have for activists and Peaches herself provided Freedom Riders with food despite the personal risk. Since then, Peaches has grown into a soul food mecca visited by the likes of Muhammed Ali and President Barak Obama.

Damn! This place sounds so good! I hate when Mom and Pop eateries close! Damn corporate restaurants trying to take over. Maybe not in this case. But it's still happening to other home town restaurants.

Too bad this place is no longer around. Would have loved to visit here, the atmosphere and history is so amazing❤️
Two truths about restaurants like this. You'll always be satisfied and want to come back for more.
Wonderful story about how she started! my great grandmother cooked without recipes as well, my grandmother would watch her and write down what she was doing so she could remember we have some wonderful family recipes we’ve been able to pass down from her. does anyone know how the restaurant is doing through this pandemic?
God bless you, Mrs. Peaches.

I love Home Town Soul Food Places like that. It's Just like Grandma or Mama House
Some local friends brought us there when my band was on tour and played in Jackson. They told us it would be the best fried chicken we had ever tasted. It indeed more than lived up to the billing. Peaches was not there, but Roderick was and he asked if we had a CD that he could buy for their jukebox! My understanding is that they did indeed put our CD in their jukebox. I'm sorry to hear that Peaches has died and the restaurant is closed. I'll always remember my meal there.
Peaches is such a beautiful lady
Praise God for Ms. Peaches and all that share in her vision. The blessed one is the giver. GAGUT greetings to you all.
