I loved sea of traquility, I had watched the authors show station eleven first then read it. The author is so good at introducing characters and making you fall in love with them outside of the plot then ties it back in so beautifully. Really an expert example for balancing multiple storylines

Almost finished with All The Light We Cannot See. Picked it up around a month ago because I remember Cindy loving it and it is definitely one of my favourite books of all time. The writing is so beautiful and the short chapters balance the slow pace. I love the two main characters so, so, so much. Really poignant and just... beautiful.

I second reading Station Eleven and then watching the adaptation on HBO! The book itself was great, we follow a cast of characters (our main character is an actress in a traveling Shakespeare group) in a post-pandemic world and follow their storylines until they collide and reveal how they are connected at the end. But similar to Daisy Jones & the Six, the adaption elevated this story immensely and added a greater emotional quality to it, I was sobbing through multiple episodes 😭😂 I loved it and beg more people to read it.

Hey! Just wanted to say that the female mc in All the Light We Cannot See is blind, not deaf, and that the disability representation is not great, just as someone who is blind, it didn't feel very well-researched. But it is a beautifully written book and I did enjoy it! Wonderful video :)

Ooo I’m really interested in both of the manga recs. The way you described Sea of Tranquility makes me want to go pick it up - I saw it in the local little library so if it’s still there I’m gonna snag it! My recommendation is Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao. I just read it and it was a banger with anime vibes and queer and poly rep. 😊

•Loved the audio of Daisy Jones, and was hesitant to watch the show.... but ellias, you are making me do it! It better be good!!!! •Tomorrow and Tomorrow is also super nostaligic for those of us who are 80s kids--the OG video game kids 😆 It def chronicled my years growing up and the changes in the world that have happened. •All the Light We Cannot See was so good. If you liked that, you need to read Cloud Cuckoo Land by the same author! •Just added Vita Nostra to my holds list. •My recent favorite reads have been: Once and Future Witches, The Great Believers, and Our Missing Hearts. Lmk if you have read, or if you check any of them out!!

@@ellias Another book you might like that reminds me a lot of "Sea of Tranquility", is "The Water Dancer" by Ta-Nehisi Coates. There are only very brief lapses into really down to earth Sci Fi in a mostly historical setting taking place in the era of the Underground railroad. This offers a lot of powerful insight on the origins of different groups, and social classes of that time too, that you don't often fully hear all the details about... After watching one of the author's interviews where he broke down his writing process, and all the sources of inspiration for the story, I found it extra interesting, seeing these creative elements pop up while reading it later... Apparently when certain books win the Oprah Book Club award and title, Oprah Winfrey actually calls you personally to let you know, which was wild to hear too.

Talking about daisy jones, some ppl are pretty much convinced tjr was inspired by a brazilian rock performer, rita lee jones, who just passed in the begining of the week, both for the music style, the last name and the band name (daisy's is the six, and rita actually had a band named "os seis" with her brother, which translates the same) U should check her out
