@@Hewasnumber1 Vantage, 50% crit chance skill under 50% hp and killer lance, just straight yeeted everybody and was the only reason I was able to finish that chapter at all. Bought skills though and that was before any dlc was released. So with clean start I woulda been fked

Remember kids: Always have a save before the pre-skip final map before chapter 13. It will save lives.

I remember on my Verdant Wind Maddening when Ignatz dodged 4 hits that would've killed him because he was trapped on a Forest tile against the Assassins

This is why you grow defense stat boosters and cram them all into byleth, so this chapter can be trivial as all the enemies are in relatively low attack classes.

I'm so glad I prepared the fuck out of part 1 for this map. I didn't really have all that trouble when the time came. The biggest help was always the unexpected MVPs and to me that was turning Ashe into an Assassin. He obviously wasn't on the level of a Dimitri or a Byleth, but God damn was he one of my better units. He was somehow better than Ingrid and Ingrid was still a very good unit for me.

People underestimate Ashe, but in my experience, he is one of my best units. That guy can crit 7% like it was a 95%, he always crits reliably when I need him to, same goes for Cyril, I don't get the fuss with hating the boy, he gets amazing growths in my experience thanks to his personal skill, they are my lucky charm units I suppose, RNGJESUS looks at them favorable most of the time.

First time playing on Hard in VW, it was difficult but I love how the units returned. Now playing on Maddening, screw this map.

Don't you already have Amyr in this chapter? And making Byleth a Flying Unit before the time skip would also definetly help reaching your level 1 units faster.

It hurts worse when the characters weren’t even leveled up

I'm probably in the minority but this is my favorite 3H chapter 😅 The difficulty spike is ridiculous, though, and you can unfortunately get soft locked if you aren't properly prepared. But I've learned that even on maddening, if your Byleth, Dimitri, and Claude have about 30 speed, they can avoid doubles from like 95% of the enemies in this chapter.

**See that you open the way with Sylvain** It isn't an unprepared error,it is that you were not strategically ready

This map was definitely challenging on my first run which I made a lot of mistakes on. Though on my fresh AM Maddening (no NG+) save, I find it quite fun do and I'd do it over and over again! Managed to clear within 33 turns this time. Less than my previous turn counts.

I just finished maddening and after years of hearing horror stories about this map, I made my Byleth as overpowered as possible to solo the map and it honestly wasn't that bad. I thought maddening would've been harder, but this game gives you so many gambits, skills and equipment to just break it in half. The first 3 maps are honestly the hardest because you're Byleth hasn't snowballed out of control yet, I played Golden Deer new game with war master Byleth dodge tanking. My Byleth was so roided out of his mind, my setup was retribution gambit and warp Byleth into the middle of 30 guys and watch him murder everything, worked on the final map too.

I had to restart my entire playthrough cuz of this...

Honestly, this map makes AM the hardest route, at least in my opinion

@@jerry3115 True, early game it is the easiest, but by the halfway point you really start to feel the pain, and the last map is also extremely difficult.

No this map is easier in AM compared to SS where Byleth has to solo everything. Seteth isn't as powerful as any of the three lords and having Dimitri in this map actually helps cheese it.

@@blanchettorianna6639 I guess it depends. dimitri can be good if you plan for him to help, but most of the time the fact that he is landlocked, while Seteth, Claude, and sometimes even Byleth can have the ability to fly away and regroup. However, with Dimitri you just have to defend that one area as tons of enemies flood in.

Yeah, this is kind of a mood. I'd seen someone else play through the game before, but my first run was Blue Lions, Maddening, Classic. I knew this was coming, I genuinely feared it. There was a very real chance I soft locked here. I did what I could to see if I could get everyone through it. I couldn't. I settled for letting Ashe and Gilbert bite it, which was begrudgingly acceptable as they were far too underleveled to be of use.

It's absolutely hilarious that I was able to one trun warp skip the previous chapter which had the entire empire storming the monastery. But in this chapter fighting a bunch of random bandits made me reset multiple times. I had to restart from the previous chapter to make battle preparations for this one.

I live for the pain.

I took everyones weapons the chapter before for some reason and then saved after the time skip so I got completely stuck, not even switching the difficulty was helping, i actually had to start over 💀

Going into this game completely blind I didn’t know there was a timeskip.

I just realised I only trained dimitri and Felix in house 💀

Bro I heard a rumor that Dimitri levels up in his class to lvl 25 with better growths, so I didn’t level him up on my maddening run. Big mistake. Walked into this max with a lvl 11 Dimitri. I have no idea how I made it out alive without a spare save.

they couldn’t have just brought the same units you used at the end of the previous map? i just got to this part on verdant wind maddening. I just got back to picking up the game again after a few years and forgot this takes your actually class, not the units you use. My Ignatz and Leonie are like level 12 what do i do D:

The worst map in the series in context of how it is handled in my opinion, having a risk of soft-locking (or forcing to lower the difficulty) in a game in 2019 is wild. In a vacuum, heh, shit's ok I guess

This was basically Intelligent system's way of forcing you to buy the dlc. I honestly don't see a logical way of completing this map on maddening without the Chalice of Beginnings at least on the Blue Lion route.

No need for dlc. It just need preparation in chapter 12. Basically you prepare for 2 chapters in chapter 12. The set up for chapter 12 must be including the chapter 13 mindset. It is possible to do it heck even people can beat it with only noble/commoner class

I see nothing wrong with Felix dying

I am not ready to play the timeskip in Three Houses and you know what I am not playing Fire Emblem Three Houses during timeskip the reason why because every unit when they fall in battle they’ll have a sad death quote and death scream especially Male or Female Byleth saying So this is how it ends NO NO 👎 I’m not playing timeskip

Genuinely never been in this situation, why is this chapter so bad to everyone else?!

You can't look at the map and manage units, their placement, and their inventories, before the battle. You're also locked to your House's units, who may very well not be the ones you trained. If you can't clear and protect with Byleth and your Lord, nor have prepared the battle by preparing your unit's inventories before the timeskip in order to allow your students to survive, you're in for a bad time, especially in Maddening.

On maddening this chapter has a massive difficulty spike. If you come unprepared or have the wrong skill/classes on your students you are basically stuck in this chapter for a long a time. In the worst case scenario you can get softlocked.

@@Arranged idk what you mean by spike, it can be solo'd by Byleth in any class that isn't relying on axes and I think the hardest part of the game is the first few chapters before you've been able to train up your students, not much else in the game is near as difficult as the chapter where you first get times pulse imo

I experienced this when I did a Marianne solo and completely forgot I wouldn't have her for this map lmao. Dimitri grew from level 2 to level 29 over the course of it and every other student died lmao.

Oh come on this map is easy. Use gambits, use the trees, if I first tried this map on my first maddening with a hero Byleth, you can too. And for the goddess sake don’t bench your in house units, that’s what you get for benching Annette and Mercie for the gremlin and Linhardt.
