As a gay guy, it makes me mad tbh. Pretending to love a woman, having kids with her, making her commit - all for the sake of keeping your secret is messed up. Literally the foundation of the relationship is based on you deceiving her. I get that you’re in the closet and could be disowned by your family, but going that far and creating such a long-term elaborate lie just so you can maintain a facade is soo horrible. I view those types of gay men as the lowest of the low, undeserving of any respect. I don't think there's an excuse anymore to do that, it's not like society will threaten your life if you choose not to marry a woman, and it also it's very cowardly since our culture has changed and we became way more accepting so that more and more people feel safe coming out. My guess is that they must be severely repressed due to religion or extremely strict and conservative parents, but even then is that good enough of an excuse if you're actively deceiving and hurting someone who actually loves you?

lol my first boyfriend that I was with for 5 years, it took me a few of those years to realize he was bisexual but leaned towards men….maybe even fully gay. It’s actually sad, because I realized he would never live the way he really wants to out of fear of judgement, so he wanted to build the “typical straight man” life but behind the scenes he would be cheating on his wife with men. As he did with me. Which took me a long time to finally stand up and walk away. It’s very confusing but I hope he has found peace and is happy wherever he is.

So some people actually do this on purpose (and not in a violet marriage sort of way either). Love can be friendship, and some guys might be homoromantic but het, bi or even a-sexual. So you can be best friends with a gay guy who even prefers guys, but he might also want a normal family. I have known couples like that. One has been married for 34 years and has 6 kids. They all know their dad/husband is attracted to men, but he adores his wife. He likes to say he might be homosexual, but is also (not her real name) Mary-sexual too. It's really weird and the wife is a bit butch (even taller than the husband) but they make it work and seem to be very much in love & are best friends.
