I hate those landing nair hitboxes, not only its makes some move crazy hard to punish if you can't tell if the landing hitbox gonna hit or not, but it also makes the character with those nairs themselves hard to figure out which hitbox gonna hit for combo, just unnecessary frustrating design

Not surprised by how much Leo overwhelmed Ned at points throughout the set. Neither Sephiroth nor Byleth may be considered top-tier material but both players are showing how to unlock their potential

The FF characters floating when they dash signifies their intense initial dash to their enemies. Kinda the same with Sora, but he's got the magic to enable it.

Anyways, look at Dissidia and how most of the cast moves (there may be one or two that have a different walk) but they all dash like they're superman or goku blasting off the ground with no effort.

That second game was so fun to watch!

Seph is so cool to watch, shame ned is the only one dominating, id love to see more of him

Sephiroth is poorly balanced due to being balanced to be "fair" for lower skill casual players, than competitive ones which is why he hardly sees high level competitive play these days and is also partially why he can't win majors, or even consistently. Sephiroth's flaws of being really light weight combined with a tall hurtbox, so-so ground and air mobility(Without wing), some lackluster frame data and poor out of shield options, and having to play around two types of sweetspots for his sword attacks to be effective, on top of that, dooms him to bottom high tier status at best, which is far from the top. I wanted Sephiroth to be great, but the balance team failed him, and a lot of other characters.

@@number090684 , you're not wrong about Sephiroth's weaknesses. However, he did win a regional(just under a major) when piloted by Ken recently in Japan. Also, Mkleo said he'd easily take top 3 with Sephiroth at a major when asked on one of his Twitch streams a couple of months ago. This match was more about player skill, than the match-up.

I was rooting for Ned even if I'm also an Mkleo fan! But good set regardless! The hard thing in this matchup is that Byleth is really difficult to edgeguard, and that's where Sephiroth shines. Also Seph is too light for no reason.

Ned needs to utilize side b and neutral b more. Condition shield so you can get more grab follow ups

ngl ned got one of the worst brackets I've seen having to play leo for the first time is one thing but having to go through a top player gauntlet for top 32 is pretty bad

Not the best play from Ned here imo. We definitely could have seen more side b (single orb) spam while weaving out with Sephiroths insane speed advantage. Ned barely uses upward angled ftilt, which is a great option against Byleth fair/bair on shield because they usually do a reactive ftilt or spot dodge afterwards. Dtilt for catching a landing Byleth. I mean, it is Leo... but hopefully, Ned sees the areas he can improve in the mu

I love watching both of these guys. I know it was 30 but it wasn’t a body and it’s travesty that Ned’s not sponsored!

Neds back air timings are honestly horrible. He fast falls too early the hit box doesn’t even come out and he gets punished so often for it

@@DemonTwink69 tbf I might be bad but you do have to full hop bair usually if you want it to come out then you have to fast fall but not too early and especially against mkleo it might be hard to commit to a full hop. Don’t understand why he wouldn’t use another move, but I do the same so 😂

Byleth is a little better. I main Sephiroth too, but Byleth has better weight and a better Nair. Byleth A+ tier and Sephiroth A tier.

@@andrebaxter4023 that's good but at the end of the day sephiroth players always get they ass beat in devastating fashion in the tournaments that actually matter and most of the times they get washed due to the character flaws, sephiroth have the same problems mewtwo has, ned is one of my favorite players and sephiroth is my main but at this point is just sad to see how poorly the character in performing at the top level

Dapix, I agree. Mkleo even said he'd win a major with Sephiroth, or at least 3rd when asked on one of his Twitch streams a couple of months ago. I think the Sephiroth hate comes from people wanting him to be the number one character, and he ended up high tier because of how they balanced him.

Flare is too slow yes, but Scintilla is busted. It is risky, but it is one of Seph's best tools and should definitly be used at the right moments, especially when edgeguarding.

Sephiroth's neutral B isn't good against high level players and some of the characters they use due to how telegraphed it is. He tried it a few times like Leo to edgeguard and pressure at the edge but Leo got around it. Sephiroth's down B counter is incredibly risky to use against Byleth because if Sephiroth misses he leaves himself open to Byleth's various hard hitting attacks which can take him out at even middling percents. Sephiroth just isn't that good.

Flare is horrible in neutral and very situational in disadvantage. Mkleo did not leave any openings to make Ned feel confident in using neutral b

Not happening. The balance team quickly disbanded after Sora the last DLC character was released. Probably because Nintendo / Namco Bandai had no other DLC content to sell players to keep the money coming in, so they dropped support of the game so they could move on to their next project(s). Would have been nice if they supported the game for at least 6 months after Sora so they could balance it better, because even though Ultimate's overall balance is the best a Smash Bros. game has seen to date, it's still not really good and a lot of characters are bad and are unviable, or are poor and require too much work and luck to have a real chance at being successful in competitive play.

Byleth has faster frame data, consistent kill set ups, a broken recovery, two out of shield options, tech chase kill set ups with terrible mobility and y’all say she’s bad. Seph literally has slower frame data, no out of shield, dies so early and has sour spots. His neutral is grab and side b. There is no way people can think seph is more consistent of a character than Byleth.

Seph has better mobility and projectiles He has kill confirms and set ups and tech chases The counter could stop the up b recovery The wing can be inconsistent but it can be a great comeback mechanic, he needs more weight though since his frame data reflects more of a heavy Seph has the better ftilt, that and fair and nair and juking out with soft cancels of neutral b are also part of his neutral MKLeo is the best in the game and although Ned lost 3-0 on paper two of these games were dead even
