ABOUT ME
I’m Fern! A 20-something gal living on beautiful Vancouver Island, Canada with my partner, our 2 dogs, and around 200 houseplants. Plants have changed my life - I love tending to them and sharing the joys and discoveries of my planty journey online. I am passionate about all things living and I have been vegan for over 5 years - it was the best decision I’ve ever made. For those into astrology, I am a gemini sun, scorpio moon, & libra rising. I started out on social media with a focus on makeup/beauty/fashion and am not into it as much, but I do share on those topics from time to time. Thanks for stopping by!

Yay I love prop circle vids! I'd love to hear you explain wet sticks more because I don't really know anything about them and also any basic/ tips for propping in perlite because I've only just started 😁💗
it's been weeks and i'm still obsessed with ur new hair
I just watched all three of your previous prop circle videos last night, perfect timing for this video!

Ferns timing seems to be insane because she posted her linearis care video right as I was searching online to buy one😂I love when things like that happen
I always enjoy your positivity, Fern 💚 I find my plastic bins at charity shops fairly regularly, as well as cache pots.
I just love watching your videos!!! Makes me get up and do my plant chores and wanna learn so much more about plants and how to take care of them!!❤️
also I stopped drinking coffee by having iced earl grey or matcha with silk vanilla creamer. it's sooo good
ive been so busy with work i haven’t been on YT in forever and you posted a video on the only day i have off this week, yay 💕 love to see it
I just chopped several of my plants and here you are making me want to chop more 🤣 ✂️
Awesome camera quality and sound 👏🏻 I’ve never used perlite before but now I’m going to give it a try! 😁
I love these prop circle videos they are just so humble and cute x
I love this series! It’s great to show how you can grow your collection from your collection! 💚 Maybe in an episode you could take us around as you take propagations - which medium you’ll propagate the cutting in. That would be interesting to see! Xx
Lol it’s hard for me too throw away an plant material that still might live also. If I think it has a chance too grow it’s going in a box also. Your Rotundafolia is so cute, love those little oblong leaves. 💚
Your house looks so comfy, and plants look happy as can be❤🌱❤🌱🤗
You are so stunning! And I love your plants 🤩 I'm definitely going to try a perlite prop box now
i love your videos glad to know that there is subtilties an you think of the deaf people like me thanks
Omg I was thinking it sounds like Misery Business too, I knew I wasn't crazy!!
I killed my micans to nothing but 2 crappy nodes and I just put in a clear Tupperware container with moist soil and left it it has taken like 2 months but it's slowly growing leaves and roots now
I use floating shelfs on my walls and also book case type shelves for all my plants. I use bar grow lights, and how I attach them is with velcrow command strips. Stick one on the roof of the shelf about the plants, and the other strip on the back of the grow light. Then stick them up. I don't use any wire. All my shelf's are wood, I have 8 floating (4) on either side of my fireplace, about 12-14 in apart from each other, and then I use the stair looking book case and do the same thing with those. Velcro the lights to the roof. The velcrow strips can hold up to 16lbs! My lights weight less the 1lb each! Works amazing! I can send pics if u want to see. I also made my own floating shelfs and installed on my own. Love my setup! It's all style, doesn't look like I'm growing a plant nursery. I have decor in-between plants, and pictures, it's very styled! I get soooo many compliments

I would love to see photos!! I'm hoping to get some floating shelves up in my place too :)
I'm so happy you uploaded this today. I JUST got a bag of perlite to pot up my peperomia polybotrya, and I have some water propogations that are taking FOREVER to root. I'm going to move them to perlite today. I'm interested to see how it goes for me, since I'm in the states in NJ. We just got into the rainy and humid early summer season, so hopefully it'll go quick.
Loved the video, seems like I’m at a friends house :) recently started rooting in perlite because of your videos and I’m excited to see how it goes
Looks like so much fun and very interesting
So rewarding to start new plants
Thank you for the video, I really enjoy these propagation videos 💚 An idea for a video: If you receive quite a few DM’s with propagation station pics could you make a video with them? I would love to see how creative others can be with their stations.
Those tents are so cute! Can have in house, great🤗❤🌱❤🌱
Jeei, new prop circle episode!😍
I still love coffee but I’ve moved to having tea more often. Green tea is the best!

yayy, a new leaf on the scindapsus jade satin! ♥
My sticks got moldy in the box after only few days in it. And I removed all the water from the box. Perlite was wet.
I only tryed to propagate P. micans directly in to soil and worked really well. Mayby try it :).

@Lèmon Lēe i’ve had the most luck with micans in moss :) but it’s also worked for perlite as well as a mixture. i had a cutting in water for a while doing nothing and as soon as i put it in a perlite / moss mix it began rooting within 2 weeks!!
I grow a bunch of cactus fro, seeds so I have a serious addiction to clear containers, currently Rubbermaid brilliance
loved this video
I didn't have any success with only Perlite in my prop box! But then I tried to put some spaghnum over the Perlite and the roots are shooting out!! 😍🌱🥺

Ahhh so cool! I will have to try that too.
I had 2 baby Pink Princess that the roots rotted due to overwatering before my vacation, one plant died the other the roots were Gone I cleaned it up and put in pearlite , it’s looking better so I hope this works tfs
Great video. I love prop boxes and their surprises. Quick question, do you have a link to where you got the clear grow tent, shelf and the lights?
i love my ikea glass shelves i have 2 😛 took one of the middle glass shelves out for taller plants
Why don’t you get a set up like mine? My husband discovered a hack too for the grow light and I love it. The grow light is growstar which was gifted to me, it’s amazinggggg and so good for the plants. They always ask if I have friends who want one too and I’m certain they ship to the USA as they have an Amazon we shop. I’ve got a video all about the set up etc.
Paramore fan and perlite user. How did I not know your channel earlier!
I'm chopping up my linearis all the time too, it's so annoying when leaves fail and leave gaps. My linearis is having some sort of fit anyway rn, I guess I'm not watering it enough because leaves are drying up left and right. I've had a challenging start of summer season with my hoyas anyway, I've had to start rerooting several hoyas because of root rot.
Love the lashes 💕
You should defenitly attach the Monstera Dubia to some sort of wood plank. If you then give it higher humidity it will just go wild. Love your videos btw :)
Hi Fern! How are you? I too swear by perlite propagating! I used to use ZipLock bags, but now I use roaster chicken containers. My friend in Florida sent me a lot of Hoya stem and root cuttings. Almost everyone rooted this way. I also think the root a lot faster than water or soil propagation. Enjoy! Gerry HPEteacher 😎
Love love your videos!! My cebu blue pothos leaves are staying small. Once the grow in do they get bigger like a hoya Obovata?? Growing up or hanging they seem small when they come in, it's frustrating. 🙂🌱🌵
That shirt though, I love it
cant find cebu blue anywhere near me :( love your videos, vlogs especially😌
Love your videos fern! Where did you get your tie dye top or what brand is it? Thank you!!
Perlite works well for propagation.
what is that song at the end called?? some memories in my mind just popped up with it, but I can't remember the naaame 🥺
So you know if you can wet stick propagate Hoya kerrii? My kerrii is a single stem with six leaves and shot out a tendril about 16” long. It’s so stiff that I can’t bend it to curve to trellis it in any way. It’s so ugly and awkward I just want to chop her but don’t want to waste any of it.
My Micans rooted really well in a Peat Moss prop box 😬
Hoya will root at the leaf but not grow, like the Kerii hearts.. will your Polyneura grow without stem? Do you think there was enough healthy node? 🤞🤞🤞
Have you ever propped in perlite mixed with sphagnum?
Very good video 📹 👍 🇬🇧
Do you ever use a Rooting concentrate with your Perlite Prop boxes? Trying to root semi-hardwood.
how do you keep your pitcher plant looking so good? my pitchers all die off but the plant keeps growing 😩
Can you make a video showing how to release trapped leafs? My philodendron keeps doing it and I heard you mention it in a previous video and I usually just lightly grab it as soft as I can and just tug but I feel that there’s a better technique that doesn’t damage the leaf because I’ve had leaf damage before from me touching too hard I believe. Thanks!!

Additional humidity can help sometimes!
Would you do a video on fungus gnats??? Or a video on grow lights?? Or a video on your favourite alocasias?? Hahaha
Lol...I just got the same mini greenhouse 🪴🌿🌱
I like and learned with your video I will like to do the same so what do you needs perlite and what more thank you
Can I watch the whole thing now or not?
Hi Fern, “Happy Friday”🤗 I had a question I am getting a cutting of a Standleyana cutting without roots, should I use the perlite propogation method?
@wildfern
2 жыл бұрын
I would!! I've had the most success with perlite. Water is my second choice.
Can creeper collect cactus competitively?
Girl what is your outro song?¿
🌱
💚💚
i really want blu but refuse to pay the price for like 2 leaves when it props so easily, i guess ill wait
Does perlite propagation work well for Hoya Carnosa Compacta? I'm trying that today
@wildfern

I have never tried it, because I’ve only propped mine once. But I suspect it would work wonderfully!
Tip: Play video at 1.5x speed

I love your propagation videos!
Question!!!! I'm trying again to root in perlite.. but every time I try it molds really bad. And most time the clipping dies. Suggestions??
@wildfern

I haven't had mould on mine :( If it's in a box, more aeration (taking off the lid) and your could try spraying some fungicide!

I think the IKEA FJALKINGE is my favorite shelf right now since you can adjust the height of the shelves. Also, I have light bars attached by command strips as well as magnets since the shelves are metal. @janiceg75
