Pot O' Gold - Full Movie | James Stewart, Paulette Goddard, Horace Heidt, Charles Winninger
Фильм және анимация
Jimmy Stewart plays Jimmy Haskell, a failed music store owner who gets involved with a scrappy band of Irish musicians, much to the dismay of his Uncle C.J. (Charles Winninger), an avowed music-hater who had hoped Jimmy would work in his health food store. Bandleader Horace Heidt stars as himself, while Paulette Goddard, fresh from her appearance in Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator, stars as Molly, Jimmy's love interest. This rollicking comedy was loosely inspired by the popular Pot O' Gold radio show, which featured Heidt as its host. And yes, that's really Jimmy Stewart singing!
Director: George Marshall
Writers: Walter DeLeon, Andrew Bennison

I absolutely love this movie! It's really cute, with great music. I've been ill, but this movie made me forget my discomfort and cheered me up tremendously.

Jimmie Stewart later referred to the film as the worst one he ever appeared in. If this was his worst, his others must be incredible. I enjoyed this whimsical, madcap musical comedy very very much. I'll be watching it again, and I rarely watch a movie more than once. This was pure entertainment. And, it took me way back to my high school days when I played sax in the school stage band. We weren't good, actually taking last place in the battle of the bands, but we were a team and we had fun. The band in this movie was way better. The musical numbers in this are great. Anyone who doesn't enjoy this movie is an Uncle Charlie.
A sweetie pie of a movie. Never knew Jimmy Stewart could play such mean her harmonica!!

I read this on imdb “Jerry Adler, younger brother of Larry Adler, taught James Stewart how to hold the harmonica and mime its playing for the movie, and was the person who performed the music supposedly done by Stewart, who continued playing the instrument after the movie wrapped.” He was so believable!!
Great movie! JIMMIE STEWART is fantastic as usual as well as the rest of the cast!
JAMES STEWART, one of my idols. I like his voice. He was a very discreet gentleman.

He is still my all-time favourite actor. (Note the Aussie spelling of favorite). It's A Wonderful Life is my favourite movie. Plus other great movies like Harvey, The Philadelphia Story, Mr Smith Goes To Washington, Anatomy Of A Murder. And great westerns like Destry Rides Again, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Shenandoah. He was the best of all of those great actors of that era.
If this movie doesn't fill you with smile and joy, somethings terribly wrong.
Thanks for posting this adorable movie!
they don't make them like Jimmy Stewart anymore... great movie and great music
Great movie. The harmonica was a bonus.
"Officer do something "..."Hello mum" Priceless ! Laugh a minute
I was so happy after watching this movie. Thank you.
Art Carney, the great television comic and future Oscar winner, in his first movie. He is on the left at the dinner table and as an announcer near the end of the movie. He was very thin but very recognizable. It was years before he made his second movie.
Wow what a Gem of a classic that was a story true human joy with the Greatest version of humour kindness determine action

No, you don't...what about Pearl Harbor? The Holocaust? Operation Barbarossa? But I do love upbeat movies-and they were scarcely allowed to make any other kind during WWII. It's great that we can find some of these sweet old gems on KZread!

this is called life. celebration of life.when and how did this liveliness being replaced by deadwood, blank, bland, vacant dry faces and this beautiful medium reached point of no return? everywhere is the same feeling and looking for the cinema to come to its life..of course another big bang is necessary!
Thanks for posting a good quality, unedited version!
The movie sure took a different turn from how it started! Haha Thanks for uploading! Paulette died and was buried where she lived in Switzerland 🇨🇭!
Perfection, just perfection
I watch everything with Paulette...
Jimmy Stewart the best
Great drama ! Excellent quality! Thank you for sharing ❤🎉
I love GREAT WRITERS! Jimmy Stewart sure know how to pick his roles!

There were great writers, but this was made in the big studio days. The studio executives matched the stars, the scripts and the directors. Stewart, once he was established, could carefully dispute a role but normally wouldn't. The studio generally did a pretty good job, especiallly in the 1930's, in turning out acceptable to great films. Certainly a lot better than today's system where the craziest inmates run the asylum. Give the studio, and his agents, credit for managing Stewart's early career extremely well.

Apparently this was Jimmy Stewart's least favorite movie, and Paulette Goddard was less than impressed with Stewart's performance...but it's still a fun little romp
Makes me happy! Isn’t that the point? I love it!

This movie shows that quality movies can be made. Not all movies have to be trash like they are in Hollywood now.
I feel like I was born too late. America isn't like this anymore. So sad!
and playing the harmonica! 18:21
This fun little film directed by George Marshall, Destry Rides Again, Blue Dahlia etc stars James Stewart and Paulette Goddard in a story about neighbours at war over music. I am not a big fan of musicals but even I enjoyed the music. Also look out for a very young future Oscar winner Art Carney near the end.
Wow totally trippy flick!
Cute movie. I loved it and so fun. Watch it you will like it too.
ANOTHER GREAT FUNNY OLD MOVIE...
This was Jimmy's least favorite movie of his. Ironically, I have probably seen it a hundred times. No other movie of his rates even a close second, although I really liked Winchester 73 and others!
Great movie.
Obviously pre-Pearl Harbor attack movie, with all those able-bodied men still out of the military, both as part of the plot and in real life..

DMan Even back then everyone who was young and/or in the groove enjoyed black culture. It's a more integrated city than in Friends. :) It was easy to ban movies with all black casts in the south but much harder to keep out black culture.

It is a type of musical that was common in the 1930's and 1940's and, of course, appealed to the cultural tastes of the time, circa 1936. Those tastes have done a better job weathering the intervening decades than I suspect the hip hop of today will in 90 years.
