Post-build Review: ICM/Tamiya AMD-35 P.204(f) Armoured Scout Car 1/35 Scale (plus interior painting)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Today we will review the ICM kit series (also reboxed by Tamiya and Revell) of the French Panhard 178 AMD-35 Armoured Car, known as the Panzerspähwagen 204(f) in German service. This is a great kit -- well detailed and quick to build -- with a full interior that would make a great one-week project. However, it can really use some upgrades for the interior. The exterior can also be improved with aftermarket details as well.
I will also show my fully painted and weathered interior for the vehicle as that has to be done during assembly. Enjoy!
ICM 35373, 35374, 35375, 35376, 35381, 35382,
Tamiya 32411, 35413,
Revell 03259.

DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to promote any specific products or brands; I just use the products I find work best for me through my experiences. There is no reason for me to promote a bad product, as then I would not enjoy using it, not like the result on my model, and not be proud of publicizing it in a video. There's also no point in me doing this to keep up relations with a company if the only benefit would be getting more of the same products that I didn't like. I have not used every product out there, but from what I have used, I keep using the products I like, and that's why I use them in my videos. You can use whatever other products you would like to and you can feel that they are better - that is your opinion, and is perfectly fine by me, thus I hope that feeling is reciprocated.

I think you managed to surpass all your previous builds with that one, starting with the construction and the interior as we see here and later with the exterior painting and weathering. Really sweet work and highly inspirational.

Thank you Michael! I agree, this is probably my most satisfying project to date. And I am getting more invested in armoured cars because of this. Maybe this is partly what inspired a certain sdkfz 247 project? 😛

Thank you! I tend to avoid interiors as they are a lot of work, and sometimes it is hard to see it in the end so it seems like wasted effort. But in this case, the interior is small and has many large hatches to show it off.

Great build and a wonderful video. Its nice to see this vehicle getting a makeover as the only other kits were from the late'90s from DML and a French model company (which I cant seem to remember at the moment) and was a reboxing DML did. BTW you did some very fine work, great job.

Glad you liked it! It is a cool vehicle and I enjoyed dressing it up a little. Armoured cars are not as commonly done as tanks, but I think I will do more in the future as they are interesting....and they don't have 200 track links to deal with either!

*These add on look really good and improve th level of detail at such a level ... thanks for sharing them, as a french modeler the AMD-35 is really beautiful and effective, so effective that the Germans allowed to produce them for their own use in Eastern Front mainly.*

I don't have access to my 178 reference at the moment but from memory those exterior radio masts are wooden poles similar to the 223 and 232 eight rad. The radio wire is strung between the two poles. I could be wrong it's been along time since seeing my reference .

You are correct. In the french configuration, that is how it is set up. However, in German service, they mounted their own radios and antenna; some vehicles are seen only fitted with the forward mast. They also mounted large frame antenna on some of these.

Thank you! I would recommend the Tamiya 1/35 scale Panzer 38(t) E/F. Or, if you are interested in smaller scale then they also make that in 1/48 scale. Tamiya brand kits are excellent...easy to put together, not frustrating...always an enjoyable build.
