Hi Nic, any tips for finding center cue ball at the aiming stage? (Before getting down) I tend to pick the shot line, but when I get down on the shot i am not on center cue ball - I then need to compensate to move my tip to center cue ball - taking me off line. Or I subconsciously move off line as I get down to find center cue ball. Obviously, the aiming has to be done from center cue ball in order to get down on center - and on line. Cheers

BEFORE approach visualize that black vertical line from the highest to lowest parts of the cue ball... then practice getting down to a cue ball only (no object balls on table), and looking at that cb all the way down to the shot to train the muscle memory of finding and staying on centre cb....

Hı nic! İ'm transitioning from american 8ball to snooker and i have öne question regarding this video. My pool coach thaught me that in order to play a stop ball (stun shot you would say) i need to visualize the center of the cue ball a 1/2 of a tıp lower than the actual center of the cue ball is. Where is this point on a snooker training ball? Thanks in advance.

Hi Albert there is no stop shot point on the cue ball - the distance to the object ball and speed you play the shot determine the height you need. -4 is the slowest possible stop shot over any distance. The higher you go the more likely it becomes that a stop shot is not possible. It is physically impossible to stop the cue ball with half a tip below centre striking with anything other than very short distances and using huge power.

Nic, do you ever get students to load their cue tip up with extra chalk, then try to strike the training ball in a specific place, then check after the shot to see if the chalk mark is is the right place on the training ball? Seems like a good way to reveal poor cueing?

@@TheSnookerGym Absolutely spot on! Incredible how much spin was created just from missing the centre by 2mm!! I guess if you are trying to stun a medium or long range shot it would be VERY easy to create unwanted side, or unwanted height. I must doing it all the time!! Great vid, and such a simple concept.

Why do I keep chipping white ball when doing screw backs

I'd say most common reasons are grip-tension & head movement. But impossible to say without seeing you play some shots, though. Hope this helps!
