Position sizing rules to consider in trading. How do you determine your position size and the amount you'll willing to risk? You probably have heard some of the most basic ones and they are a good starting point. If in doubt keep things small. OK.P
Position sizing rules for active traders:
- risking 1 or 2% of the account on any trade
- 5% to 10% in special conditions.
- Increase or decrease size monthly.
- Size according to the setup.
- Don't compound risk with similar positions.
- Remember daily/weekly risk is more important.

Liked! Great point on looking at the risk "per day, week, month" versus per trade. Wait for the A1 setup, and risk 5-10%.

One of the top two or three discussions of risk management I've ever seen. The last third of the video cannot be overstated. A very shortened version of that is basically, allocate more risk towards better opportunities. Fantastic video, my favorite KZread channel.

The simplest and most ignored core principles given here by you in this video. "Scale back testing of one's appetite." I'm going back to the drawing board to rethink my position - size - risk. Thanks mate.

If you want to stay in the game longer 0.5% per trade until you become profitable you shouldn’t risk 1 to 2 percent per trade.

Such good content. I made my own spreadsheet that automatically calculates 1%, 1.5%, 2%, 5% of my account and applies it to the stop position. That way my position size is always proportional to the width of my stop.

I purposely risk 10 percent of my account and go all in 3 times a week looking for that good set up it’s been way more profitable and less stress than 4-6 trades a day

JORDAN HOOKS all in? Even with a 99.99% strat you will go broke eventually, and I am 100% certain you don’t have that.

I use 3 different types of trade sizes, and use them depending on the type of trade I'm taking or how sure I'm about the set-up. As the account grows I see myself using the bigger two of those trade sizes more than before and when it gets to the point where I'm using the biggest one I'll increase the number in all of them and start using the smaller one (which would be as big as my biggest size before)

i dont believe in averaging , because if my entry was right , it would work right away. I do really think 'averaging' is a bad habit that some day traders exhibit My stop limits r usually tight because market would be always there. most times are either at my entry or .05 above the entry I m a pullback player

Great video but one thing, you briefly mentioned the law of averages which is statistically untrue (unlike the law of large numbers). You should cover that in a part of a video at some point.

Hi Darth, If you planned this beforehand and you have a zone where you want to do business you can enter using a market order if the market is liquid enough.
