Great review as always the only thing preventing me from pulling the trigger is the fit I definitely want a more relaxed geo as this will be my second gravel bike for bike packing and sandier stuff that my bike can’t get through. You should check out the survey extra terrestrials I think they would be great they are a little bigger but roll better on road

You should do the test with proper tires from Schwalbe, Conti or other respectable brand. Kenda tires, throughout their portfolio, run like solid rubber boots for trucks, totally unacceptable. The well known Kenda Smallblock 8 is even beyond 40 Watts in tire tests. Insane!

Dude, your 5'11 and you look giant on a large. I'm 6'1 (6'2 on a good day) and they tried to tell me to get the large. I went with the XL. Haven't got it in yet but after seeing this video I know I made the right choice lol. Great vid and you're the only one that's mentioned anything about sizing and I appreciate that.

@@OIIIIIIIO.17 even the XL felt cramped, needed a stem extension. As far as I can tell size down if you want a more aggressive road bike position or size up for a more upright position. The top tube of the bike is extremely short and makes the bike feel cramped. other than that one gripe it is a bomb-proof bike. I have had it on single-track that I had no business being on with a rigid fork bike. It's a fantastic gravel/off-road bike.

@@OIIIIIIIO.17 nice man! Just be mindful if you want a bike that's more closely related to a mountain bike than a road bike. This is it. If you want something closer to a road bike, say like the canyon grail.. this is not it. Other than that. Good luck and be safe !

Nice review. Got a xs. I like it. Have commuted 20 mi a day on it for a month. Very fun, not fast. Also want to build up with, perhaps a jonesbar and a lauf. Might use it for GDMBR once I change a few things. Nothing wrong with microshift, but I'm a noob. Paint color is sweet, paint quality could be better. even at that price.

@@eag4real I'm about 5' 6" and inseam is 29"ish. I keep thinking I could have sized up, but just because of the toe overlap. I just have to think about where my feet are with sharp turns on descents. No regrets though because I really like the Redwood and can't wait to turn it into my monster bike packing rig. Didn't make it to the mountain bike trails today, but might do a test tomorrow before the rain. Got almost 400 miles on it commuting every day while I overhaul my Felt Broam. Hope this helps.

Angstcapades Yes, I am also 5’6”” with 29” inseam. Do you think by moving up to a small frame that the toe over lap would be eliminated? Also at X-small how is stand over clearance? Do you feel a small would be to tall? Sorry for all the questions but this info would surely help. Thanks again for your input.

@@eag4real I think the numbers on their site are good, but we are at the top end of the height recommendation for xs. I don't have anything on my channel yet or I would say watch that (shameless plug). I've met Russ and he is similar size, and looks fine on the Small. I don't want to steer you wrong. I think you'll have less toe overlap but the wheelbase from Xs to S is like 1cm. Stack and reach are probably more important, maybe compare those to a bike you already fit well on. It's a hard decision, I know. Hope I'm helping.

Question for you, I’m between this and the X (complete beginner to riding) I want to ride some leisure paths and suburban road areas. I feel the X is better for road based on your video. But the tubeless ready rims of the Redwood make me feel it’s a little more future proof. Is it still comfortable to ride on roads?

That’s strange, I’d make sure u have grease on the crank bolt threads and on the sprinkle and re tighten. Some don’t recommend greasing axle but I never had an issue, it allows you to have no fricition so you can fully tighten it up. Replacement wise Look for a sram mtb gxp non boost crank

Not odd at all, its definitely not design specifically for women or men in my opinion. The sizing is on the smaller side, so shorter riders are well suited regardless of gender. The handlebar width and stem length may need to be changed if you find them to wide, or stem too long.
