this team should be world champion and then it wouldnt be a suprise .. yes portugal not spain, world cup before this game , portugal spain was the semi finals and portugal got screwed big time, not only in a lot of stuff during the game but most importantly , spain goal was from an offside goal from villa.. world cup before that portugal got out in the semis because of a non existent penalty for france 2 minutes from penalties .. even in this euro , portugal won playing defensive for the first time in their history but happened stuff that is not being talked because portugal won the games but in 1\8 , 1\4 and semis , 3 games in a row , there was a clear penalty to penalty in every single one of them , not one was given ! getting fucked by refs is portugal history!

Thank you for your support, but Portugal lost no match to Spain in semi finals with a goal from Villa. I believe you are confusing 2 different moments: our semi finals in 2012, which was a tie and we lost on penalties, and our, hum, 8th finals? in 2010, which we lost with a goal from Villa. Different moments, different Cups. Just sayin'!

I was at that game!!! I am a huge fan of the Spanish national team so I was really sad when they lost but it was still an amazing experience for a first professional game.

It is really amazing to know that even if you the best team in the world in 2010, you are not perfect :) !

3. Paulo Bento is a great coach who managed a successful tactic against Spain, a fact that was highlighted in sports newspapers across Europe (though we lost on penalties). 4. Portugal was praised for strong defense and strong midfield and is fifth in FIFA's rating ahead of very good teams like Italy, Argentina and the Netherlands (good team despite the provision in euro).

Wow Portugal did well in this match. But what happened to them in this World Cup? Losing 4-0 to Germany, tied with USA(should have won) and beat Ghana. Portugal should have advanced to the round of 16. Portugal and USA both had 4 points at the end of the group match. I have no idea why FIFA picked USA to advance and not Portugal. Anyways, I love you CR7!!

Umm no they didn't. USA beat Ghana 2-1 and Portugal did the exact same thing 2-1. Both could not score against Germany and they both tied 2-2. So please explain why USA had more goals when they both had teams had 4 goals in total.

I agree with most of what you said aside from the fact that Spain's style of play is boring. When their tactics are employed correctly it is some of the most unstoppable and beautiful football out there, and that is why they are champions of Europe and the world. Done right it is the closest thing to perfect football that at least I've ever seen. Like I said though, when it is employed correctly, they are not infallible. Some teams have been largely successful in tactically outsmarting them.

Here is all you need to know about Portugal in 2016. (Possession and a shit ton of chances and attacks) YES (how many times the ball can go to the back of the net) Not so much. But remember that the majority of the players playing for Portugal today are all new players from the national pool. They joined the national squad in 2015 and in early 2016 and tbh, winning a tournament with very new players that have not player for their country for more than a year is really impressive. A lot of youngsters in the national squad this year. Ronaldo talked about how Portugal has never had that many young players in the team before.

The beauty of Spain's (Barça's) system, is that with the right players (Golden generation), the game has been taken nearest to teamwork perfection than it may have ever been.
