Great team, full of talent in every position, Zidane at his best, and generally one of the best euro tournaments.

each semifinalist featured more megastars than the whole Euro-2020 tournament put together.

I have never seen a player like Zidane again. he is incomparable. he made football an art. he could have played in a suit, there was so much elegance. his gestures, his controls, his dribbling. It's as if the ball is in love with him. one of the greatest football legends.

As an Italian it was heartbreaking seeing France equalize in the last minute and them win in extra time. But payback came for Italy in 2006

@@cm8836 Italy have won four WC's (France only two) and Italy and France have won two EC's each. France have won one ENL which is really a mickey mouse tournament anyway. So statistic wise Italy are still way ahead of France because WC's are the highest standard by which trophy wear is measured.

In a period of amateur football in which the organisation is poor and with Mussolini cheating...international football before the 1970s' should not count. In reality, France and Italy are fairly equivalent football nations. France is better since 1998 (two Euro finals, one won and three World Cup finals with two won). But Italy is still very good with three Euro finals with one won and one World Cup.

@@benoitjacob7999 If Italy won the WC in 34 and 38 it counts....end of! If international football before the 1970's shouldn't count you would be ignoring Pele's early exploits with Brazil. As for Mussolini cheating we can get into other arguments such as England's non goal in 66, Argentina's dictator going into the Peruvian dressing room in 78 and Germany's help in the 54 final.

This will forever be my favorite euros!! The players, the teams ,the colors, the stadiums , the matchups..I’m a die hard Italian fan so it ended in heartbreak for me but I will always remember this tournament!! France vs Spain might be my favorite game in any tournament ever behind Germany vs Italy 06, France vs Portugal is in my top 5 , holland vs Italy in my top 5 lol so basically almost all my favorite games in tournaments I been watching since 1990 came from this tournament..that final still haunts me to this day, del piero & totti was so bad in this game lol I’ll never forget the Italians gathering on the sideline to celebrate when Wiltord scored 🤦🏾‍♂️I always watch that highlight hoping toldo could get down faster 😪

@@sluglow6357 it had so much drama and tension, the Germans in their home country, Cannavaro at the back playing like a warrior. I was supporting Italy wanted to see Cannavaro Totti and Del Piero take the World Cup, but in the final part of me wanted to see Zidane go out with it too. Truly a great time for football. 2006 had mess Ronaldo robben Ribery Van Persie as the next generation and still had all of the old guard like Figo beckham Zidane Totti del Piero Ronaldo etc. What a World Cup. But that match the end to end action the drama the chances, and then the way grosso got the call from the reverse pass and Gilardino found del Piero for the second. Magnificent Italian football with Italian flare and style.

@@PLayAshEFF72 i been an Italian fan since the 90 World Cup I fell in love with baggio & scilachi , baggio still my favorite player to this day but it was all heartbreak for Italian fans up til that World Cup in 06 penalties in 90 lost, penalties in the final 94 lost, didn’t get out of the group stage 96 euros , penalties 98 lost , golden goal 2000 euros final lost, robbery in 2002 golden goal lost, knocked out group stage 04 euros by thst back heel goal from zlatan then finally triumph in 06 it felt good, had to play the host nation in 98,2000,2002 & 2006

France has many greats teams like 1958, Platini's era, and since Deschamps' coaching but the Euro 2000 omg... This is truly the greatest French team of all time, the most difficult tournament we've ever won, great emotions, great matches and so many legends... Barthez, Thuram, Blanc, Desailly, Lizarazu, Deschamps, Vieira, Trezeguet, Henry, Zidane and many others, even the B team was good if we watch France-Netherlands match... We don't go in final of the WC 2006 without worlds and europeans champions + Makélélé

France was the only team that had different line up and still end up to win everything at end...

Spain (08-12),Germany(14-16),France(98-00) were the best national teams in football history.

Since 1998 France is a very brilliant team with so many great footballers.

I find it funny how France beat Spain in the quarterfinals for this euro and then just a dozen years later Spain beat France in the quarterfinals of that euro

Del Piero has never missed at his signature K corner. The only one time was at this final, and it costed him a trophy.
