There should be photos of every Flight 93 passenger and crew member in a hallway in the Capitol where senators, congressmen, and staffers have to pass them everyday and look at those who probably spared their lives.

@@mistifeyed It's not odd at all... The story of flight 93 tends to focus on the men storming the cockpit. Most people aren't even aware that the flight attendants were also forming their own plan to try and help. I guarantee that if you ask people, most won't know about the flight attendants boiling water. Stop trying to find issues where there aren't any. You've completely taken the comment out of context.

What is truly remarkable about these people is that they didn’t just act to save themselves. While we know that they prevented the plane from hitting DC, we also know that they waited to attack until they were over a rural area, saving lives below them in case they failed. They were thinking of others who they never met in a circumstance of ultimate duress. That is courage and heroism that you just do not expect to see from a group of strangers. Words cannot express how much I admire them.

For those of us who were alive to witness it, it'll always feel like yesterday. My Grandfather still had nightmares of Pearl Harbor, and then later on, when he was deployed to the Atlantic Theater and saw the Camps. The Camps, however, were one of the things he never talked about fully; all he would say was how inhumane it was and how he could still smell it to this day. For me, 9/11 is not something I'll ever forget since I lost a classmate to the towers (visiting family in NYC, grandfather worked in the towers and was able to get him onto the roof so he could see the view, I can only imagine what he was thinking when those planes hit, the only two things they found from him was his backpack and camera) and nearly lost my older brother at the Pentagon

As an American, I am SO proud of these people taking their plane back... even if it went badly, it could have been so much worse if not for them. Amazing people, every single one. That day, we saw the absolute Worst.. and the absolute BEST of humanity.
It makes me so sad that the wife of Capt. Dahl seems to feel like she has to make it clear that her husband was alive and participating throughout. Saying that the coroner didn’t see any difference in coagulation between Capt. Dahl and everyone else. Those people were in bits. They hit the ground at over 500 miles per hour. If he was killed early it doesn’t make him any less valuable on the flight and even if he was killed right away it doesn’t diminish him in any way whatsoever. I just feel particularly sad for Mrs. Dahl every time I watch this.
I live close to where the crash site is. I heard the plane go over and my husband watched the plane go down as he was working close to the crash site. Prayers for the heroes of flight 93 and their families. Never forget!!!

After hearing this story I think they actually were hand picked by a higher power. The story of the day may have been to go home and eat dinner, in their minds, but I believe they knew in some part of themselves that there was a much bigger assignment. If that plane had hit the white house, the stakes were much bigger than some governmental chaos. Not only would it have emboldened every terrorist organization, but the repercussions from our military would have been truly heinous. The repercussions as it were changed the face of the world. It however was child's play compared to what would have occurred had they hit the white house. And it would not have been only the guilty caught in the crossfire.

I've seen several Flight 93 documentaries and/or dramatizations, but had never seen this one before. Definitely interesting, as there were some interviews in this that were unfamiliar to me. Only thing I wish had been different about this one was that the narrator shut up more, and stopped asking questions more like they were statements. But all that minor stuff aside, my heart still simultaneously breaks and fills with pride when I think about the passengers and crew of Flight 93. It's so sad they were even in this situation at all, but so brave of them to try to take the plane back.

I think the narrator's questions is a way to keep viewers engaged, something I've noticed in documentaries for years. The narrator asks questions, and hopefully the viewers keep watching so they can hear the answers. It can be annoying, and it's a common trope in docs. Bloggers do a similar thing, in print.
I grew up about 50 miles east of Pittsburgh. I will never know for sure, but I am 80% sure I saw that plane go overhead that day. May they all rest in peace ❤ True definition of heroes.

What an amazing group of people were gathered on that plane, put in place at that point in time to thwart the plans of the evil highjackers.
This documentary dates to 2005 before the transcript of the CVR was released. I'm inclined to believe the cockpit was breached and then Jarrah crashed the plane during the struggle. So it was heroic in that it stopped them from reaching their target, though I don't believe they had reached the point of getting control of the plane with any chance of trying to save it themselves. That doesn't lessen what they did in the slightest (full disclosure-Todd Beamer was in the same college class I was in, and my parents knew Donald and Jean Peterson from their church).

@floridamarinemom1749
8 ай бұрын
You could be right but my impression of the CVR transcript is that they possibly temporarily got possession of the controls for possibly 8 seconds but one of the hijackers was able to get the controls back. I think the transcripts leave it open to the possibility that one of the passengers was in a struggle for the retention of the controls right up until 3 seconds before impact. I agree that I don't think they ever had a real chance of saving themselves. The transcript indicates that the hijacker that was in the cockpit planned to end it if threatened by the passengers. I believe that he had already turned the plane in a deadly descent that most likely the passengers wouldn't have been able to save it from if they had taken control if they had breached the cockpit even sooner. None of that matters in the long run. They knew that it was risky to try but they tried anyways. Of course, they wanted to live, that's human instinct but I believe that they all were aware of the real likelihood of them not succeeding but even if they didn't that they would prevent the hijackers from hitting their target. Whatever they though, was able to accomplish as far as attempting to take back the plane, the fact they attempted and was able to breech the cockpit shows the bravery they showed in the face of extreme danger. Regardless of whether their main goal was to save themselves or to stop the hijackers planned attack, they succeeded in saving numerous lives on the ground and for that they will always be heroes.

Like many Americans, I will never forget where I was on that Tuesday. I was a junior in college and I had gone to class that morning a very early 8:00 AM CST class. Back then televisions still we’re on carts and rolled in and out of classrooms in lecture halls. My professor secured a TV and brought it in. I was in a larger lecture hall that morning as a nursing major all of my other classes were small, but I was double majoring and this was one of the few classes I had left for that degree. And since it was the beginning of the semester, I didn’t know many students in that class whereas my nursing classes I knew everyone. But people were hugging and crying and encouraging one another like we were lifelong best friends. At first other students from other lecture halls since TV’s were limited, piled in and it was standing room only but eventually professors told us we could go home if we wanted to. I remember being scared and wanting to go all the way home to where my parents were but instead I went back to my house with my roommates and we stayed glued to the television all day. Even on that horrible Tuesday before we had all the details about flight 93 I knew they were a ray of sunshine in this horrible tragedy. They were just amazing American heroes. Definitely the first warriors of the war on terror. Even as 20+ years has passed my heart thoughts and prayers go out to all the families affected by 911 there were so many heroes that day, So many people that thought about others before they thought about themselves. 🙏🏻 🇺🇸 ❤
Real heros salute....
the heroes of Flight 93 were truly handpicked.
Imagine having to turn on the television to get news. None of us had smartphones. Or tablets. No Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp- just a literal hand held cell phone. The internet itself as we know it was only 5 years old and news sites much more basic. The world changed on many levels and many of us in our 60s are nostalgic for pre-9/11 times before the hurt, conflict and damage of this shocking day

It’s nice that this film focuses on pretty much all of the passengers instead of just the same 4 guys that are always talked about.
This is what life is about , it is fine that they lived a short life but they saved countless lives. They came to the world with a purpose as heroes.
Such heroism and on-their-feet-immediate comprehension, situational thought, and courageous action taken by those passengers- it boggles my mind.... a modern tale of heroism as of yet unmatched. That I could find myself shoulder to shoulder, at any given moment, with such heroic Americans reminds me, if I ever needed to be reminded, to never, ever, give up-
God forbid I’m ever in a situation of that magnitude, I can only hope I’m as brave and patriotic as those Americans on that flight. My they all rest easy and their families find some peace and comfort knowing that Our nation is forever thankful and grateful for the courage and bravery
These were the bravest people at the start of the fight with terror.
That day was definitely a sad day. But the days and weeks following this tragic day I saw a country that was badly wounded come together as one. I was so proud to be an American. But my heart also ached for the loss of all those innocent people and the families who lost their loved ones. R.I.P

Dear God, how brave they were looking into the eyes of evil - in our wildest dreams & imaginations we will never FULLY feel the extreme tightening adrenaline surges & terror they had to plan rapidly against! They fought back because they already knew. There was no escaping their own demise. They chose to fight back to save untold numbers of others
The bravery of those passengers on flight 93 is astonishing. God Bless them. Even though they were unable to save themselves they did save countless others should they have sat back and the high jackers achieving their plans. I have a very strong belief the high highjackers target would have been either the capital building or the Whitehouse but due to the bravery of flight 93 passengers the terrorists were stopped

Hopefully not from the perspective of the fringe psycho truthers, such as their claim the war on terror/Iraq could not have been fought without some heroes starring in an airborne melodrama. Not even Hollywood for Kids could come up with that.
28:40 imagine being late to your flight that would cause your ultimate demise and the flight ending up being a delayed departure as well, but who know’s, maybe he was the puzzle needed on the passenger list to help take back the plane and save hundreds, if not, thousands of people that were on the ground. It’s just crazy to think but had he missed the plane, he would have not been gone that day.

Even in the face of the horror that was occurring, the thought that you might save someone was a fervent hope. It took a week for it to fully set in that there would be no one to save.
oh the selfless sacrifices of everyone on that flight and not forgetting their loved ones urging them to do the right thing at great expense to themselves. it gives me hope for mankind recalling the sheer moral fibre of Americas that day. RIP brave souls
Brave souls who decided to come out swinging against terrorists. They knew it was a death sentence for everyone but their lives were already wagered. 😢Vaya con Dios y en paz descansen. 🙏
Still as haunting as that day.
God bless all these people and their loved one’s
How can we not hate these kind when we know what they did to humanity this day. I am an islander no where near to US but watching this devastating moments just gets my blood boiling. How could we ever forgive this kind? Worst than Animals . Animals are so much better! My heart goes out to the families and the US as a country

You seem to have an issue with generalizing from the TERRORISTS to "these kind" of people. How far does your generalization go? To the terrorists' brothers? To their wives? To all Muslims? To all Muslim children? It's that sort of nebulous "this kind" -ing that led to the attacks in the first place. Animals are better because they DON'T categorize and then generalize from there.

I’ve seen many re-enactments of Flight 93, but I have had never seen this before!
The first fight back on that fateful day flight 93 legends🇱🇷
Rest in Peace. You are all Heroes. 🙏🏻💔🙏🏻
I remember and will never forget seeing that second plane hit the tower and the horror that ensued realizing we were under attack. Uncommon valor......thank tou for your service. 🙏 💪
Let’s Roll!! God bless those heroes
I think the loved ones, via phones, told the Flight 93 victims that the other planes had been crashed. They were some brave folks. May God rest their eternal souls❤

Yes, some were told about the Twin Towers. The passengers knew the plane was going to crash. They are definitely heroes. ❤ 🇺🇸

Remember being in class in middle school in Philadelphia watching on the class TV I ill always remember flight 93 true heros
I can't image what this was like.
These heroes epitomize the scripture that says "Greater love hath no man than this: that a man lay down his life for a friend". How much more then, for complete strangers?
I have watched several 911 videos n docs....ty for this one giving great personal insights
Oh Lord my sweet Jesus, I pray for these souls and their families. Please give their loved ones strength to carry on in this life.

I couldn't agree more, they were ALL hero's. R.I.P
This is the first time I've seen this documentary. Before now I had no real idea of what went on in that plane. I am not surprised that passengers all volunteered whatever strengths or talents or knowledge they possessed and forged a monster to take on the evil that had entered the cockpit that day. Every one of them fought to the death, knowing that they could not stop what was happening but they could fight fiercely to minimize the catastrophic outcome.

There is a film reenactment of what the people aboard the plane went through, titled United 93. It's one of the heaviest movies, but you can visualize what everyone went through
The amount of pride and love I habe for these brave souls can't be expressed. I am so sorry to their families for the loss 😢
I often ask myself what would I have done, unanswerable question.

A plane full of Angels♥️
I always wonder how close the passengers were to breaking into cockpit and regaining control off it???
You always hear about the attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. Thank you for doing one on flight 93. God bless America❤❤❤
New York attack will never be forgotten. I'm from Oklahoma and I understand. It is hell living with this in your state history. Its emotionally and psychologically manageable, but the memories remain. Thanks Daughtry for the song, September.
Great film, just found this onenon 2024. The interviews with the familys were amazing, not just hearing the names but getting to know jist a little about some of the people on the flight was great. May They all rest in Peace.
Sooo humbled, so thankful, so grateful, and in awe of the strength and courage these random people who became America's angels exhibited on that day. 🇺🇲🦅
It's a pity they did not get to save the crash
I watch this a lot to remind me .... Wales Britain. Never should they be forgotten.😞
Cannot imagine what went through those passenger minds once plane was hijacked. Always in our 💕 hearts.
terrorist: we don't need to learn how to land flight trainer: this is fine
Maybe I’m crazy but I think pilots should be armed on all flights.

You’re not crazy, you’re wise. After 9/11 all cockpits were reinforced with metal locks though.

The pilots can carry weapons and be deputized as federal flight deck officer. You're slightly behind by at least two decades.

To that lady at the end, yes. The passengers did breach the cockpit. There were atleast 2 on the plane that knew how to fly or possibly fly a 747, but the altitude was far too low to pull up. They saved us from something even more devastating. Far far more.

@@cchris874 I really do believe for sure that they did. That plane wasn't supposed to land there. Its intended target was the capital. I highly doubt there wasn't a struggle for control over the plane before it took a dive.

The passengers and flight attendants of United Flight 93 are true heroes. 🇺🇸 🦅 🗽 🫶🏼 Are you guys ready?…….. Let’s Roll……………………” The passengers and crew were forced to the back of the plane and told to be quiet. Using airfones, passengers and crew began making calls to report the hijacking. They soon learned the shocking news about the other hijacked planes and quickly realized that Flight 93 was part of a larger attack on America.
Thank you Flight 93.
