Portmeirion Village Walk, Welsh Countryside 4K

All support is hugely appreciated and it helps me keep the channel going!
No talking, just walking. Exploring the Welsh coastal village of Portmeirion. We start at the top of the walk our way down and through the picturesque village exploring all there is to see, all the way down to the beach where we then walk through a very beautiful woodland before heading back through the village towards the end. An incredibly beautiful walk.
Portmeirion is a tourist village in Gwynedd, North Wales. It was designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 in the style of an Italian villageThe village is located in the community of Penrhyndeudraeth, on the estuary of the River Dwyryd. Portmeirion has served as the location for numerous films and television shows, most famously as "The Village" in the 1960s television show The Prisoner.

About Dave's Walks
Hi there, I‘m Dave! I've lived in the English Countryside all my life, and I love it! I enjoy walking, and couldn’t help but notice just how beautiful the UK can be away from the cities. I found myself inspired and decided to get some camera equipment and make some walking videos so I can share my walks of the beautiful countryside with everyone!
I will mainly focus on small towns, villages, picturesque landscapes, rolling hills and mountains, forests and canals, all along the coastlines in England, Scotland, Wales, and who knows maybe one day further afar!
I upload every Sunday 11.45am GMT (3.45am PST) (6.45am EST) (5.15pm IST) (9.15pm ACST)

It seems the Summerland is similar to this place. This is where most souls who have passed go to. Just imagine, coming upon this place. You look around and it is full of colour. The sea is the most sparkling set of diamond-like undulations you have ever seen. The flowers give forth the most beautiful scents; but they also put forth the most gorgeous sounds, like a myriad of tiny tinkling bells. The gentle breeze carries the scents of the flowers. There is an irredescent light covering the whole landscape, but there is an absence of any sun in the sky. If you put your hands in the pool's water or fountains, they come away curiously dry rather than wet.. If you taste the water it has a slightly sweet flavour, and if you drink it, you will be infused with energy. All around you will seem like the earth. Objects will feel solid and so will your 'body," although it will feel lighter. There will be a noticeable absence of physical pain. If you gaze in the water of the pool you will see your reflection, but you may notice that you have become younger looking. If you observe carefully all the objects around you, it will become obvious that unlike on the earth plane, there is an absence of decay or death; no dead leaves or rotting materials can be seen, and the objects carry their own particular vibrations and sounds. Later you may start to see other people in the vicinity. They may appear as old friends or even relatives who you knew on earth, but who may have passed on many years before. Or if not you may be approached by a 'stranger' (or strangers) who may wish to help or assist you! You will always be free to refuse this help if you wish. You may find that this stranger (or strangers) know a great deal about you; although you probably wont know them. Later on, you may learn that these people are guides, sent to help and offer their love to those who have dropped their physical body. You may then realise that this is a place for new arrivals, and you might then realise that something significant has indeed happened: that you have passed from the earth plane to the Summerland plane. I will not go on, since your story will be a very long one. I have simply written about the beginning of that journey! Finis.

Well done Dave. I was there after a gig at Butlin's in the mid nineties, my colleague and I took the opportunity to go and have a look at the place on the way back home. Because it was December there were no people there at all and the atmosphere was eerie. I particularly enjoyed the Ship on the quay, that isn't a ship at all, I love visual jokes like this. Of course when I was there it was soaking wet from the constant rain, but the buildings are fascinating.

This is a village where too much colour is not enough. The bright buildings remind me of parts of old Lisbon or a child's colouring book. It's certainly pretty enough, but am unsure if it's style is too much Disneyland for my tastes. I am a painter/signwriter by trade, and would like the contract to keep all the buildings looking good. A job for life. Enjoyed your wander in the verrrry green walking trails. You have certainly dialled up the colour saturation for this one. It's a nice look though. Variety is the spice of life. What a lovely way to spend some time. It's a rough job you have, but someone has to do it. Rotten jet plane noise: rot your socks. Never mind. They can't spoil our fun.

I used to work at the Portmeirion Potteries factory in Staffordshire, England. It was started by Susan Williams-Ellis, who was the daughter of the architect of Portmeirion Village, Clough Williams-Ellis. She just took the pottery name from her father's project in Wales. Susan and her husband Ewan were still alive when I worked there, and although they no longer had day-to-day input at the factory, they had a flat on the premises they sometimes used. You'd occasionally see Susan in her dressing-gown when you arrived at work in the morning! I also have some Portmeirion 'Botanic Garden' and 'Pomona' items at home. Susan and Ewan's daughter was the designer for some of their designs.

It's not supposed to look 'Welsh' though - it's 'Italianate' in style. And it's not really 'heritage', being relatively new - all designed by the same architect and built between the 1920s and 1970s. It's not a proper village, just a tourist village/attraction.

Great stuff Dave, thanks. At first I suspected you of tweaking the colours! I have watched the entire TV series, and for some reason I thunk it was filmed somewhere in Eastern Europe, like on the coast of Estonia. I guess maybe that's where Number 6 deduces the Village is located and the geography become stuck in my mind as fact.

What a beautiful place! Question: are the houses inhabited? Do people live in it? Or it's like a movie set? Astonishing.

I believe most of the houses are lived in. mostly by the staff that work and maintain the town like gardeners, painters, shop workers, and I think some buildings are guest houses where people can stay. I think anyway. 😊👍

I swear I will marry a Welsh lady from this village and settle down there. If any business owner needs a computer engineer just give a call.

It's just a very unique village for the UK. The only village of the UK completely in this style I believe. 😊

It was deliberately designed by the architect Clough Williams-Ellis in 'Italianate' style. It's not intended to look 'Welsh' at all. Almost all these buildings are relatively new (most built between 1920s and 1970s). It was always meant to be essentially a tourist village, not a place people lived, though there are a couple of hotels and some holiday cottages if you want to stay there. The whole place could be characterised as a bit of whimsy, a 'folly'.

I get Disney vibes from this place. People really live there?

I believe people do live there, I assume they work there also. Shop staff, gardeners, maintenance etc
