Portland Street Manchester Clayton Hotel built using Rapidres® from Creagh Concrete

The new four-star, 17-storey, Clayton Hotel is now open in Manchester city centre. It replaces a 50-year-old office block, which was demolished, by principal contractor Russells Construction.
Creagh are utilising offsite bespoke fastrack concrete build system Rapidres® to construct the hotel, comprising of an insitu frame, cloaked with our BBA approved precast cladding panels and cross walls, along with solid floor slabs, stairs, and landings.
The hotel offers 329 bedrooms and boasts three floors of commercial space, featuring a ground-floor bar with restaurant at mezzanine level as well as a business centre with meeting rooms and a health suite.
Framing the corner of Portland Street and Sackville Street, the external finish of the hotel provides a textured Reckli finish complimented with a heavy acid etched Portland stone. Creagh splayed textured precast sandwich panels, provide a subtle depth around the windows, breaking up the building façade. The internal structure, cross walls and floor slabs provide the client with first fix M&E and a type C finish suitable for direct decoration.
The overall site footprint, like most city centres was tight and benefited from a Modern Methods of Construction approach. A tower crane was erected within the building footprint, reducing the impact on the surrounding streets.
