Portland State soccer player donated an organ to save her mom’s life. Now, she’s back on the field

This is not only a story about what Cameron Dixon gave to her mother. It’s also a story about what her mother gave to Cam.
Last July, Cam, a senior on the Portland State women’s soccer team, lay in a hospital bed in San Antonio as doctors cut a 12-inch incision into her abdomen and removed 70% of her liver. They put it on ice and carried it into the next room to place it inside a woman named Jamie Lane.
Jamie is Cam’s mom. She was born with polycystic kidney disorder.
