I have to tell on myself a bit, I'm 39 and I don't hear much new music as I tend to forget to turn the radio on when I'm running errands. But every now and then my 15 yr old will hook her phone into the speakers and say, Mom, I want you to hear this song... she did that with Shelter this evening, and I started singing along. She squealed and said "Mom! How do you know this song?!" I just smiled at her. Then it hit her, " OMG Mike Tompkins must have a new video or you wouldn't know this!" So there you have it. You introduce me to music I wouldn't normally hear and help me bridge what sometimes seems like an immeasurable gap between me and my teenager!
