Regarding the ending: I actually really love the fact that you DON’T do mega builds in this world! Of course those are awesome too, but these small-medium builds are just sooo much more inspiring to me in my own survival world! It’s quite difficult to make small builds look good because there’s not a lot of room for detail. But you do it anyway, I learn so much from these!

I normally don’t comment on videos but this channel inspires me a lot, and I’m always excited when a new video is uploaded. I love live streams because you’re watching people do stuff while feeling like you’re a part of a conversation with someone, and that’s the kinda vibe this channel gives, except you don’t get mad at yourself when you’re ALWAYS LATE to the live streams. I know this comment was cheesy, but if there’s even a chance Gem sees this, I’m willing to let it be known that you will forever be my favorite KZreadr. ❤

I love the addition of the portal tree! To me it creates a narrative as to why the village is there. Maybe the villagers came across this magical tree and the abundant Cherry forest and set up shop to take advantage of the access to the nether. That’s why they have nether related blocks and so much Cherry, and the tree isn’t IN the village because it’s special. The addition of the wood path around to the front feels like they built it there a long time ago, and like it’s intentional. 10/10!

I definitely understand not wanting to do mega builds in this specific world and I love the idea! It's inspiring to watch. One thing you could do if you wanted to do a slightly larger build without completely mega, is you could build a village for giants. So there are larger buildings and stuff, but it's not quite mega. If you don't want to do that, that's totally fine and I understand. But it was just an idea I had because it would still fit in with what you wanted to go for in this world for the most part. I love this series, Gem! Everything is looking so good!

Listening to you talk about the layout of the overall build in painting terms, I think I spied another aspect of why having the tree on the lefthand cliffside works so well: when you look at it from the bridge, the Portal Tree parallels the Cartographer's Tower to create a sort of frame-within-a-frame effect, drawing the eye down into the valley framed on either side by tall structures. I'm a trained photographer, so FWAF and Rule of Thirds principles are kinda ingrained in how I look at arrangements at this point. Granted, it's mostly useless in the day-to-day, but for projects like this, you've demonstrated exactly why it's an invaluable set of tools to have in your kit.

longtime listener firsttime caller: im so thankful to hear you taking a turn towards smaller builds! i went thru uni watvhing your 1.16 and 1.17 worlds and they have such a warm place in my heart, and i think the fact that you made smaller, more accessible builds was so inspiring and make them feel human-scale to me. they werent the mega-projects of, like, elite players at the olympic level of minecraft (which you do v well on hc ofc heheh) but they feel more interesting to me. idk ive always preferred a smaller scale, and i like that you share a little of your life with us on these singleplayer worlds. you make minecraft seem doable in these smaller worlds!

Binge watched this series as I crocheted a bat plushie. It has been very nice to watch the progress of Gem's projects and of my own little guy over the course of the episodes. :D ♡

Love the more “medium/small accessible builds” I always get inspired watching hermitcraft and such but get burnt out trying to build a mega base

We need a before and after picture of the village. To see how much gem has changed it 😊

My jaw dropped when you put the detail in the bottom of the fountain! I love that it adds to one of the most subtle parts of the block pallet for this base that I adore!!

I think taking your time and re-imagining villages in hardcore is amazing. It's much more chill and it sounds like you're having a lot of fun doing it this way. It's very inspirational as well! Also it all looks so good. Love the tree.

I'm praying that the portal connects to a semi-safe place. Imagine doing that huge project and you end up over a lava lake. It does look beautiful, though.
