Wheatley wasn’t as bad as we thought he was. He tried to kill Chell because he was corrupted in GLaDOS’s body, but when he’s out of GLaDOS’s body he’s a decent and very humble core.

@李德胜 Caroline is basically the system32 folder to GLaDOS it will stop working without it so Caroline is probably backed up in a inaccessible part of GLaDOSs brain and gets restored after a while.

I always thought glados was just bluffing about the intelligence dampening core as their first interaction she calls him "metal ball" as if there was no significance and no reason to lie, and how wheatley did have some good plans, like taking out the neurotoxin and sabotaging the turret lines, as well as the final battle he uses bombs instead and even got himself a bomb shield since he knew chell knew how to take out the neurotoxin and bombs. i also feel bad for him because i think he was a good guy who just ended up being corrupted by power and the system that forced him to test we find out about in "the itch"

She is manipulating you whole time. I don't think she would tell you the story about Wheatley. She don't need too. It is just a disgusting metal sphere for her. About "not enough power for lying", that was come from Glados. She said that(if I am not wrong) She save us like she said too. She don't have morality core. Why she didn't let us go into Spaaaaaaace

He taunts Chell about it during the boss fight, telling her that She wasn't the first before telling her that all of other ones died horribly in an attempt to threaten Chell. The dev commentary also mentions this, and states that they had trouble fitting that part of his backstory in, so they left it purposefully ambigious if Chell was the first or simply the last of the test subjects he attempted to use as a free ride out of Aperture.

Portal Stories Mel is a really cool (and free) fan mod (but it's basically a new game) that I believe takes place in between both 1 and 2... its very cool and I highly recommend it if you own Portal 2 on Steam. There Is Also Aperture Tag (which I haven't played because you have to pay) But It Features A Gel Gun Where You Shoot Blue And Orange Gel Instead Of Portals And Portal Reloaded Which I Don't Believe Is Out Yet But Features The Interesting Idea Of Having Three Different Portals To Play With.

Honestly Wheatley is a pretty damn tragic character, He genuinely wanted to help us escape from the Enrichment Center, but due to the GlaDOS chassis, his will was corrupted and his ego took over. I could honestly write a whole essay on how well the characters in Portal 2 are written, and how the GlaDOS chassis itself is a sort of corrupting force.

I think it wasn't the power that made Wheatley mad. I think it was Caroline. Since Caroline didn't want to become GLaDOS she would've been angry. What backs up this theory is that GLaDOS became good when she was a potato because Caroline wasn't making her mad. And then when GLaDOS went in charge, she deleted Caroline and didn't turn evil. That is also why Wheatley apologized when he was stuck in space. Also, I was looking at the wake-up scene, and I could see that GLaDOS was sort of avoiding the destroyed platform around her. Sure she hit it a few times but this might just prove that the mainframe on it's own has A.I, which is part of Caroline.

My poor crazy buddy. I heard he's now working with a bunch of mercenaries at Mann Co. I've spotted him near the BLU spawn in "Watergate" behind a couple of crates.

"and was considered for the manufacturing division." Ah yes! Because something was meant to be 'stupid by design' should be the best one to run 'highly dangerous equipment'. I think the only 'dumb' ones here were the scientist at Aperture. They created technology that was centuries ahead of the others, and used for......?????? But new Portal game on the moon, where a scientific team is sent out to investigate Aperture, finds a facility on the moon, finds Wheatley, and then -hilarity- 'history repeated' begins? That.....I would like to see that.

It sort of brainwashed our poor little guy, plus he got addicted to testing which was basically robot crack. When GLaDOS was out of the body she was nice so the chassis is like a personality core. He didn't know how to handle having that much power.

Hopefully they won’t. He’s my favorite character in the game, but his arc is done. They resolved it with the “I’m sorry” bit, so there’s nothing really left to do with the character. There’d be no reason other than pure fanservice to bring him back, unless they maybe did a prequel or something.

The one thing I don't like about Wheatley is his voice. Not the acting per se, but more the lack of that robotic TTS-like sound that all the other robots have. Wheatley just sounds like a regular person and I just don't feel like that fits.

ok ima go into speculation now. A voice line in the final chell+GLaDOS vs Wheatley fight Wheatley I think says something like “I didn’t even expect you to get the gun! None of the other people would survive getting it! I tried 5... wait no, 6 people and all of them failed!...” or it was something like that. Here’s what I believe. In the time that Wheatley said “nothing happened” he was actually finding and waking up alive test subjects and asking them to go through some tests to find a portal gun, like chell did. However none of them were able to make it. I think that he purposefully woke up GLaDOS so that he would be able to take control of the facility. I believe he meant to let the subjects escape after he got to power, but him getting the power corrupted his mind and made him decide to make chell test more. But then again, that’s just a theory. Always thought that too. There’s a lot behind his arc other than power. Maybe it was also anger, Perhaps he never really was respected, and considering who he is, that may have been a little irritating. His purpose basically makes him out to be this annoying idiot, which itself isn’t an amazing title to hold. And he didn’t even get a job he wanted afterwards. It’s almost clear he might feel like he’s not respected. However, when put in a position of authority, expecting that respect, and not receiving it may have a triggered something else. (I feel like a couple of his lines point to this. Like when he yells at you for how you’ve “bossed him around” and now he’s the one that can do that to you.) It’s part of why i like him so much. Because honestly? That’s a mood.

But if you have played the game this video is actually kind of useless because its just the story of the game.
