to those who had problem using the bevel modifier 7:09 (the bevel is not working), try to go to edit mode, select all by typing A then type M and choose "by distance"

@@polygonrunway sir which effect can help to create a blade like Raizels blade from legacy of kain soul reaver 1??
i've never thought to make a leaf like that lol. so easy but sometimes you overthink stuff like this
Very good tutorial, but when I put my rendering in cycles and then GPU compute, everything is pixelated even after a long wait. Leaving in evee will something change in the end ?
That's wonderful ! Your style of creation is splendid ! For example when we create a portal exactly like this one, is it possible to put it on Unreal Engine to make a scenery or a game but exactly the same as the one you made, please ?

For some reason the bevel at 13:17 doesn't work for me. Nothing happens. I select the edge between the ground and the vertical wall, hit Ctrl+b, and it just doesn't do a thing. Even if I use the mouse wheel to add subdivisions it won't work.
Hello 👋🏻, at the time of the portal’s texture, I don’t the waves, I put all my settings like you but there is something that don’t allow me to see the texture, do you know why ?
really wish you would have explained the rest towarrdss the end too. but overall i learned a lot thankk you
The settings for making the portal appear like water don't seem to exist in version 4. There's just one "transmission" section with only "weight" as an option and it doesn't seem to do anything? What would be the way to go about creating this effect in newer versions?
Great tutorial, easy to understand and follow along. I have slight problem where the portal material doesn't seems to pass the light like in your project, back light pass a little but point light doesn't pass through at all. any suggestion on how to fix this?
@polygonrunway
2 жыл бұрын
Glad you like it! Transmission materials are very sensitive to color brightness, try to avoid darker tones, go really bright, also you can play with IOR on the shader options and check normals as well
awesome work like your commentary helps understand how you are making your art look good....Was this rendered in cycles or eevee thanks?
@polygonrunway
3 жыл бұрын
Glad you like it ;). It's cycles
Can you create a tips video on how to maintain this type of aesthetic using different techniques?
Great tutorial, and great style. Peripheral question : If I'd like to animate the the portal waves (the wood rings displace texture) like if the waves were coming from the center, what would be the best way to do it ? I tried to play with the empty (Pos, Rot, Scale) but nothing seems to get me to that effect. I looked for a "phase" option in the wood ring texture, but there was none. There must another way to achieve this...
@polygonrunway
2 жыл бұрын
I would search for this in the texture settings as well, but I would have to check
Hello can you also explain what you're doing with the Camera at 15:00 ? Rotate around world origin but how is the model rotating with the camera view?

Any help with how the portal itself is made transparent / glass like would be much appreciated! Looks like Subsurface Translucency is clicked, then Transmission turned up. Is that all that's needed? Mine is still very solid, feels like I'm missing a step! Thanks! :)
@oliverlisher696
3 жыл бұрын
Solved this by playing with the light behind the portal and switching to cycles, I don't know, but seems like this effect only really works in cycles. Great tutorial anyways!
Great video as usual but i want to ask something. Is this model game ready or can we make game ready low poly assets with these methods?
@polygonrunway
3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's game ready due to extensive use of modifiers and higher poly count. But it could be baked onto lower poly object
