but it was a lie, the player (and Chell obviously) was able to see her old project from "bring your daughter to work" day, revealing she is related to scientists working there. that she is actually a relative of Caroline or even perhaps of Cave Johnson too is the top version.

another lil detail you probably didnt know about: if you do the test by simply pressing the button in the chamber in which you can get the "you made your point" trophy, but dont actually go through the door, you can get like 5 lines of dialogue.

@@NoriMori1992 I think that’s a big clue as to what his experience was like there. Saying that it was exhausting, but not saying that it was fun may be a silent indicator that he may have been on the receiving end of a form of Crush Culture at Valve. It’s important to note that Wheatley is generally frustrated and impatient after he becomes head of the facility, and Merchant’s comedy in the final act comes from that negative place. Perhaps as game development continued, Merchant started to feel burnout creeping in and thus vented that into his lines when it best made sense. All of this is speculation however, and there may actually be evidence to the contrary. I just wanted to get a theory across

Something I really appreciate in this great compilation, is that you don't interrupt the on-going quotes. You just let them play out. It makes this so much more fun to watch.

I just realized when Wheatley turns on the lights and says "let there be light" he points out he was quoting God, then later if you break a monitor he says "can't hurt the big ol' God face" That is some next-level foreshadowing

You can actually break the motitor on "TEST" By bunnyhopping. It's not something intended, but you can do it. (speedruners sometimes do it)

Wheatley talks like such a real human being its pretty funny

The best part is that Wheatley gets more and more impatient and angry with you with each one.

Wheatly; goes power hungry, tries to kill his teamate, insults her for being adopted, and unintentionally tries to destroy the whole facility Also wheatly; Why are you destroying my monitors, you jerk

There's a bonus screen in the bomb factory where Wheatley tries to get you to commit suicide on the conveyor belt with the crusher. You can launch a bomb straight at the screen. Doesn't count towards the achievement but it's fun because he actually reacts differently from the other 11.

I love that they put a way for you to smash every one of his monitors in each chamber. Like, they didn't _have to_ hide a turret on that last one, but they did! They didn't have to make the "HAH! YOU MISSED- wait you're not aiming for me uh nevermind" dialogue thing happen, but they did!

At 2:59 I don't know if Glados is showing that they care, but I would say she does and it's really nice that the developers thought to put in Glados showing care to the main character. It's nice.

The fact that the turret immediately shot Wheatly shows that he really is destroying Aperture.

That was some impressive attention to detail to include dialogue from Wheatley when it looked like you were going to smash the monitor but stopped yourself with a light bridge because you were solving the test.

I remember when playing this I tried to make it a habit to break all the screens

I've always loved how much thought valve put into this game when it comes to special dialogue, like when you let yourself get crushed on the conveyor belt and he goes "Oh wow, didn't think that'd work. Very well!"

Man Wheatley just sounds so much like Mumbo. They even have the same depth of accent, just Wheatley's voice being deeper

What's funnier than Wheatley's lines is the methods used to break the monitors

In my playthrough after smashing the first monitor i wondered "Can i do that to every single one?" after seeing there was at least one in every test chamber, i even got the one in the next chapter that's not required for the achievment, seeing him get progressively more pissed off was a reward in and of itself

A detail I’m particularly enjoying is the robots (GLaDOS, Wheatley) contain sentient AI so advanced, they need motivation to do their jobs. The irresistible itch to test (like a drug addiction) and being excruciatingly zapped if they try to explain the solution to a test is both hilarious and awful.

" Just stop iiiiit. " XD

If you somehow magically break the last monitor in the level in which Wheatly tries to convince you to walk yourself into the smasher, he has another animation and voiceline that plays. You’d have to mod/hack the game to do that though.

The number of details and hidden messages VALVe put into these games, especially Portal 2. I love it, I even experienced a rare hidden message during the Portal 2 boss fight at the end of the game.

GLaDOS saying "for the record: you ARE adopted and that's TERRIBLE. But just work with me" when scolding Wheatley for making fun of Chell is one of the many reasons why she is one of my favourite video characters

I never even realized this game had a soundtrack. The ambience during the core meltdown is decrepit in such a badass way.

I also love how parts of the music are made by elements of the test. Like how the laser... recievers? Hum/beep to the music when powered. But my personal favorite is in one of the early test chambers, the one with the companion cube, and the companion cube "sings" the tune of the turret opera to the beat of the music. All the more sad when glados fizzles it if you try to sneak it out.

I love how Wheatley goes from insulting your intelligence, to being pissed 😂

Man Chell really loves monitors

I love this game till death. I might have other games I play and even call favorites, but Portal games will forever hold a seat in my heart no other can take over....

I accidentally destroyed monitor 7 in my play through because I jumped on the bouncer without knowing I had to put the light bridge there. I had no idea the other monitors could be broken

I fear no thumbnail, but that thumbnail, it scares me
