Great video bud… just a little insight one of the reason the red piece is shaped like a triangle is so ones you have locked the door your supposed to flipped it upside down and use it as a wedge to make it nice and tight that way there is no room to wiggle it self free… give it a try… good luck

you should of read the directions. rotate the red part above then slide down. because of the taper it will snug up to the door and secure it not allowing and movement. they way you are using it, could allow it to flex and door to open.

After you have inserted the knob through the central hole turn the red piece up vertical so it braces against the door. Nothing will move then. I have used one for a couple of years and I can honestly state it is one hundred percent reliable.

Hey, just FYI you are not supposed to just loosely hang the orange wedge downward. You’re supposed to put it in place with the fat end up and the press it downward into place. That’s why the back of it slides in that track. If you used it properly there wouldn’t be any give when you pulled on the door. This being an item that your viewers might use for their saftey, I would advise you to redo this product review.

If you use it at hotels, it could drain the battery in the door lock if the locking mechanism can’t close completely. Make sure the door closes securely.

as someone whos had a break in before the audio of this of a full grown man say ...well its locked this is lock not opening was so friggin soothing -best words I've heard in a long time. I'm safe now just for background restraining order plus I sleep with a bat and told him I'm not taking body shots if he comes in hes leaving through the roff exit straught on up to jesus

FYI, you slide the opposite way. instead of an upright triangle when you slide in the small movable ring, you should slide in down from top with the an upside down triangle. that way, it will not leave any space at all. like you see you have gaps at 5:47

You are using the side for the interior doors, the large side is for exterior doors and the triangle bit should point down and be pressed down and become a wedge to create pressure against the door.

I should definitely invest. My landlord had one of her repair men come to my apartment to replace my smoke detector. I work third shift so my ass was asleep and I didn't hear them knock or ring the doorbell. I was awakened by his foot steps. I got up real damn quick and just see this mysterious man walking around my apartment. Mind you, I am half awake and come rushing over to this guy. Probably wasn't very smart to rush in unarmed, again, I was half awake. He said, "Sorry, I thought you weren't home. I Rang the doorbell and knocked and no one answered. Where is the smoke detector?" Pretty sure you aren't suppose to just let yourself in. I was frightened as you can imagine but also really annoyed. That incident made me want to look these up and see how well they actually work.

Apartments are usually equipped with an interior lock of some sort that can't be unlocked from the outside by management, maintenance or anybody trying to gain entrance with a key. What's up with that? Also and me being me, I'd inform management and tell them to forward the info to maintenance, as to my unusual work schedule and to be given notice as to any work needing to be done inside my apt and set a particular time and day. I would further more mention that being woke up abnormally could result in bodily injuries to the unauthorized trespassers that I won't and can't be held responsible for legally as I'll assume I'm under attack and whatever injuries are sustained are out of self defense and partial consciousness.

No u cant its too wide for bedroom and bathrooms doors. I just tried. The teeth r too wide and thick , only works on heavier duty doors. I'm going to try a different brand that has no claws on it

Huh, I don’t think the door lock is being used properly. The red piece needs to be turned upwards then jammed downwards (which is why it’s on a rail). That way the door wouldn’t be able to be moved at all in the video.

Would've liked to have seen a more realistic attempt at a burglar trying to break in. I don't think most of them are so gentle, it's more of a running start full body or foot kick. I'm still going to purchase a couple of them because Amazon has them for $5.99 & if it delays a break in just a few extra seconds it betters my chance to get a shot off.

@@arstulex if I buy a product that advertised Home Security then that's what I expect it to be. I've never seen one of these that only said it was for privacy. But I'm sure it will work for privacy if you have small children.

@@rodneyeckles4833 I mean, isn't home security what your external door locks are for? If those have already failed why would you ever expect something temporary like this to work? Regardless of what the advertising says, doesn't common sense come into play here? It's not meant to fill the same role as a permanently fitted lock, it's meant for maintaining privacy when staying somewhere like a friend's house or a hotel. Use cases where people are casually entering without knocking, as opposed to actively kicking and shoulder barging the door. In short: If you're relying on something like this for home security then you likely have bigger concerns.

@@arstulex not using them in place of the door lock but in addition to the door lock. At the end of the day if someone wants to break in, your door probably won't stop them. But maybe this will help delay them, if it gives me an extra 10-15 seconds to shot it's worth the $5.99 it cost. And your right they probably are better suited for hotel doors or even apartments that let maintenance in.

These aren't so bad for minimal security,my girl travels for work and she picked one up since she stays alot in hotels its best for those situations.

How about if they have spare key? I don't think I can use it at home for my bedroom door. I bought one and i tried but it's not effective specially if they spare key

If this product worked You could kick it and The door won't open And the door would be Protected from harm. He knows that a kick Would destroy the quarter inch of softwood.

This thing sucks. I needed one to keep someone out of my room , it is too wide for a bedroom or bathroom door. I have to find one that doesn't have claws.

It does have its limits. The old standard hinge locks are probably the best.

I’ve used these in about six different hotels. They worked in about half of them. Either the door gap wasn’t big enough or the opening in the bracket wasn’t big enough to accommodate the door bolt latch. Disappointing

Great point Debra. I can tell you this. After working with this thing a little, I really think it’s pretty sturdy but ultimately someone that is kicking a door or maybe breaking a window it gonna get through anything that we put in their way if they are desperate enough. Thanks again!

It only works if the door opens in wards. If your standing in the room ND door opens tords you it will work. That's a standard set up for entryway doors as well. But one thing... instead of the triangle piece pointed up it should be pointed down to ensure the triangle is secure. I'm buying the ladies in family these... plus my son's they travel a lot

Good grief, you demonstrated it wrong. You should remove this video and post the correct way to use it safely. The pointy part of the plastic triangle should always point down, NOT UP. You can then wedge it firmly against the door and easily remove it by putting your finger through the hole/loop and pull straight up.

The red piece should have been placed with the narrow side down so it wedges into place and there is no play.. plunger? That is called a strike and the hole that it goes into on the jamb of the frame is called a strike plate. terrible video. I take it you're not in security
