    If I were to build a ported box with a pair of 4" Kenwood KFC1065S that have a frequency range of 45 HZ to 22 KHZ, would it be best to tune the port for 45hz or some other frequency? I plan on using a .50 Cal Ammo Box instead of the smaller .223 or .30 cal.

    Hi Kirby, Nice rugged speakers, OD Green, love it. Phil saw his shadow, so, 6 more weeks of Winter, I guess any way you look at it. Keep the builds coming, looking for chip amp reviews coming up. Take care, be good, C. P.S. I like re purposed enclosures and things out of the ordinary, if they lend them selves to good speaker enclosures.

    I was wanting to build an Ammo Box Bluetooth speaker using a .50 caliber box, which is about twice the size of this or more, and use 4" Pyle or Kicker speakers, but keep it as simple as possible and be rechargeable. Would this method also work or should I look at doing it differently instead of using the $20 rechargeable Bluetooth receiver amplifier that is in this video?

    hi Kirby , sorry to bother you but one quick question. I have 2 Hertz coaxial 2way speakers for my car, but right now I don't have use for them no more. would they make for a good Bluetooth speaker with those class d amps from eBay? and a passive radiator? is like having a tweeter and a woofer in the same spot wich sound good to me

  • @djsndcx

    @djsndcx

    7 жыл бұрын

    A passive radiator will only work when it's used with the correct speaker and enclosure. Otherwise, you'll risk ruining your speakers because they act as if they're in an infinite positively charged baffle.

    Alex W. The boxes can flex and resonate badly. The batting helps dampen it (and helps isolate the channels, as the open space inside will tend to blend the left and right channels since they are pushing against the same air volume; the batting helps slow down the air inside enough to minimize that effect, among other benefits). But if you don't push them too hard they're great. Same sheet metal construction as the boxes most people are most familiar with for audio: their cars. :)

  • @sy7024

    Narcizo Chavez Yes but not because there is more power. Since it is a higher impedance there is less power for the speakers. It's output is more controlled so it would work fine, however they still don't match. This just means that it is underpowered but it is very controlled because of the high impedance

    Clean build! its a cool little amp with many possibilities. But a little impractical wouldn't you say? I mean, every time you want to play music you got to open the box flip the switch, close the box and only then can you start playing music. And to charge you also need to open the box... I think you could've mounted the amp in a way the charging port could be exposed if you drilled a small hole. Anyways, great video! Your work has inspired me to get into speaker building as well.

    If he wanted to, he could have desoldered the on/ connect button and extended it to be on the outside and mount it through the ammo box, but it seems that he is either too lazy or concerned with cluttering the outside of the box like most people do.

    Nice. I have a few of these boxes but bigger. Might try this. One thing. BT amp is 3 watts per chan at 4ohms BUT the speakers are 8ohms so you only get 1.5 watts per chan at the speakers due to increased resistance? Correct?

    Then don't turn it up that high. The heatsinks are barely enough for the chips and the chips tend to distort quite badly just over halfway because they're not genuine TPA's or TDA's.

    Robert Perce Note how much the sides of the can flexed as he drilled. It will flex in use and sound terrible if you run this too hard. Seems like a reasonable setup to me. My only doubt is the Bluetooth reception in a metal can (aka Faraday cage). Or maybe I missed a step for an external antenna of some sort?

    Make sure when you calculate your impedance you don't go lower than 4 ohms and don't go higher than 8, max acceptable is 16. Don't use a multimeter to measure impedance as a multimeter measures resistance and not impedance.

    some tips: Do not use ammo can for boom box build. If you do keep in mind that these boxes are hard to cut threw. After cutting, clean off any metal particles of the can, because they will stick to your magnetic speakers and trust me its near impossible to scrub them off. And last tip to keep it short insulate box with any type of rubber like material to prevent rattling sounds. Almost forgot. Use bigger god damn speakers :D
