Yeah, we could never travel extensively during the summer, ha ha... it's warm enough for me when we go in September and October still, ha ha... I think San Juan was about the hottest I remember, and that was in November!!

Your Spanish is impeccable (the "Damajagua" could not have been said better)... I'm Hispanic!

Hey guys cool! I've been watching your more recent videos. You have not aged a bit since 2019 LOL. I did not realize how valuable you guys are…when looking for shore excursions for my upcoming cruise in March I came across this video that you guys did..I might book the ocean cabana.
Heading there on the Magic next week. Leaving from Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday.

We did the 27 waterfalls with Iguana Mama our first time there! We only went to 13 because the water was too high to access all them...we had so much fun!! You have to hike up the mountain about 2 miles and then you jump/slide down to the bottom of the waterfalls!

Thankee! No ocean to be had at the port, but definitely a good pool and watersports day, hah. :D
Love these videos! We are heading there next yr and haven't been to this port before. If you have anything on Bonaire or LaRomana DR that would be great to see these locations.
@parodeejay
4 жыл бұрын
Oh nice! We'll be in Bonaire for the first time this December, so we'll probably do an episode on that port early next year. We haven't been to La Romana yet, and I don't think we have it on any future cruises... dang!!
We went to Amber Cove on my 2nd cruise on the Sunshine out of Port Canaveral, and we got off the ship and did one of the cheap, local tour guides, a tour of Puerto Plata and he lied to us saying it would be about 2 1/2 hour tour but it turned out to be a very boring 5-hour tour. We didn't feel comfortable in Puerto Plata. So, I for sure recommend that you either do a ship excursion or just do the shops/pool/slides.

One thing. As you will recall, not all cruise ports are on or close to the beach. The beach is not far from Amber Cove.
I bought a bag of coffee there, had it in the carry on, forgot to take it out for screening at the airport so they had me to step aside while they tested the seals for drug residue. Ha ha. So my tip is, put the coffee out on the conveyor belt. Lol.

Hmmmm, let's see. Free loungers, free pool, free water slides, beautiful landscaping, safe environment, oh, and did I mention it was FREE? Yeah, I would've given it a 9. Great informative video though, map layout was just what I was looking for. Love your videos. Keep up the great work.

@parodeejay

Yes indeed! I think we'll be hitting San Juan either next week or the week after... St. Thomas, I think we'll wait until we visit one more time in November, so we can get a little more experience in, and then cover it, ha ha... we've only been there once so far!! :P
💙💙💙
I totally agree with your rating! The big thing missing from this port is a beach, but we had fun. As a 5'3" person, I didn't have to walk around in the water on my knees - a plus! But also visited the coffee shop, sat with an iced coffee and enjoyed their free WiFi (cleared off some email). Definitely would try an excursion if we go there again, but a free port day for us was the goal that visit. Thanks for another great video!

I don’t think y’all have been there but maybe someday you can do a review of Costa Maya.
@parodeejay
4 жыл бұрын
We’ve been to Costa Maya twice, once was our very first cruise way back before we started vlogging, but then we did vlog the port on our second visit. We were holding off to do a port guide until we got in one more visit, because we’ve never actually left the port area and we were hoping to get down to the town of Mahahual maybe on our next visit, or do something interesting outside the port.
I wa t to see one for montego bay
txs for the video... the water slides are included?

The water slides are included, yes indeed!! :D
Any experience on being the second cruise ship pulling into Amber Cove or Grand Turk when the other ship comes in long before your ship does? Problems finding chairs, umbrellas, etc. We have that scenario on this trip.
@parodeejay
4 жыл бұрын
Ah, we were there alone in port the first time when we explored the pool and all... but we were the second ship that ever got to visit the port after it opened. Yeah, I imagine if you get two ships in there, and you're the second, the lounger selection may not be that great. There are a ton of chairs, but hopefully they don't put two large ships in there!!
Do the fees (food, drinks, rentals) use cash or can you use your cruise ID card since it’s a carnival port?
@parodeejay
4 жыл бұрын
Everything in Amber Cove is cash or credit card only. We didn't find anywhere that would take the ship card. That's usually reserved for their actual private islands like Half Moon and Princess Cays.
Dee do you know if you could snorkel from the Ocean Cabanas?

They seem to offer paid watersports, leading me to believe that you can enter the water somehow, though we've never ventured over to scope out exactly how that might work.

We've floated around the Western Caribbean that time of year, yep. it's usually not too too cold yet, but you can get a little wavy out there. Seems like most of the waves are on the east coast of Florida though. Shouldn't be too bad!! :P

I thought Amber Cove has a lazy river?

No lazy river at the Amber Cove port that we’ve seen. The nearby Taino Bay port has one though!!
Is Amber Cove accessible to the general public and / or nearby resort patrons? If so, what is admission price?

Not that I’m aware of. It was constructed by Carnival Corp solely for the use of their cruise passengers, as an alternative to docking in nearby Puerto Plata.

@@parodeejay Thank you. I guess we'll have to shop down town.
Is there any food included in the port?
@parodeejay
9 ай бұрын
Not that we’ve seen, no. It’s not a true private destination like Half Moon Cay or Princess Cays.
Ocean World is $54.99 for Adults and $44.99 for kids now.
Do you remember if any of the stores had cigars ?
@parodeejay
3 жыл бұрын
Every Dufry duty-free shop we’ve seen at a port will have cigars, yes. That’s the one you have to walk through to enter the port. And sometimes they even have an entire separate cigar shop. I don’t remember seeing a separate shop, but I know the main duty-free shop had some.
One sign that really disappointed me was on the pier: NO Drone Zone! 😡
@parodeejay

Yeeeah, most times if you leave the port area, you can fly... but a lot of the ports don't allow it, and they want you to keep a good distance from the ships. Meh.
Do zip lines put your stomach in your throat ?
