Hi, What are the server room measurements, if you can provide them? Are there any new updates on the server room itself, equipment, etc? Always a pleasure to see new videos.

FYI, the Plex support article mentioned in the video and linked in the description has been updated with a security warning. In the video, there is one second @3:20 where you leave some ambiguity and make it sound like one should open their router firewall to those additional ports if the PMS sits on a subnet. The support article warns not to do this. What the support article is saying is that the firewall built into the PMS device operating system needs to allow those ports. -e.g., MacOS, System Preferences>Security>Firewall Thanks for the otherwise helpful video!

I did exactly like you did. however when I check the port as you did, it appears as closed. Also. when I configure remote access on the plex server, appears as accessible, but after few minutes appears as not accessible with the red letters. What I am doing wrong?

I got this working internally where my clients are in an untrusted IoT VLAN and the plex server on a synology diskstation is on a trusted LAN segment. I added the rules to the IoT network to allow the ports through to the trusted segment. Since Avahi is running clients could see the server but not get data from it. After adding the rules, it's all working fine.

If you change your public port, I don't see the option to change the private port. Won't they have to be different, or am I missing something? I have a few plex servers so I changed the public port so they would all be different. Thx

Using PfSense I found I had to add the line " server:private-domain: "plex.direct" " under ServicesDNS/Resolver/General Settings/Custom options to fix Indirect connection error.

Hey Keith! Can you please go into more details? I went to Services/DNS Resolver/General Settings, THEN all I scrolled down till I saw "Display Custom Options" added "server:private-domain: "plex.direct" but it gave me erro codes.

Great one. Just want to know if we have Dynamic IP then do we need to do something else. I am actually hosting game servers for my friends but could not get it to work. The port forwarding does not work for me in this case. What should be the problem. Any ideas ?

having a DHCP WAN, or commonly referred to as a dynamic ip will not have ill effect or change the process on how you port forward. what it will change is when your outside of the home what ip you connect to. i would suggest to setup DDNS which will keep a DNS entry updated when your WAN IP changes automatically fo you. this way you dont have to change the IP when your remote if you home IP changes.

You said the exposed port has to explicitly match the internal port, that's not true. You can change the exposed port and update your plex server settings to let it know what the custom exposed port is. I've not had any issues with that, haven't had to manually reconfigure any clients.

Same for me, too. I ran tcpdump on my Plex Server though and confirmed the traffic was being forwarded. I disconnected my phone from the wifi and it sure seem to be working over cellular. I wonder if certain services aren't working correctly... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you want to improve your presentations and maybe get more subscribers, ditch the singing and verbal doodling. It's distracting, annoying and unprofessional. Just saying! Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse.

this is a terrible video, you dont explain anytthing. Is the IP address in the destination your public IP, router IP, plex server IP?
