Lol,after 35 years of trucking, I've found that attitudes change quickly, when you threaten to take the shit the customer ordered, back to where you picked it up, and they can then wait for it to arrive several weeks later from another driver. Why is this always a problem in New York, Jersey City, Philadelphia, and Chicago?

I’ve been working at the Port Authority for about 16 years as a contractor for various technical companies. Port Authority in the location you were in has its own police academy about two blocks away from the 13th street garage so you probably ran into the junior cops who have an office in the Holland Tunnel. Most of the cops are reasonable but not the PA cops they are reminded almost daily about 9/11 I’ve watched the recruits get grilled and berated for not knowing the names of the cops who died at WTC some weren’t even born then. Communication is not their specialty I talk to them in many locations but unless you are a Port Authority manager or a director or a policewoman-policeman they can be unhelpful. A big delivery truck is still seen as an object of interest and as a threat to be watched, it’s the culture not the man. I have worked on computers and servers for the police department and the other departments in the office and in the field for about 16 years and the culture of the Police at Port Authority is just very different from most police officers and police stations. My views are sympathetic to you or anyone else who gets caught up with the Port Authority police department, they are bull headed and communicating to the average Joe is not a part of their design or culture. They make good road blocks and they can be blockhead’s when faced with decision making.

@@jonathanbair523 it's not city planning, law enforcement in NYC don't give a crap about lawfully parking their vehicles, even personal ones. They will park in bike lanes and on sidewalks, even perpendicular to the street so they take up the entire sidewalk and protrude into the street. You can find entire blocks with dozens of cops cars like this. They are scum, and nothing in the city code allows them to park like that legally, but consequences don't exist for cops.

Many years ago I drove a truck with D.C. tags through the Holland Tunnel regularly 3 times a week. One evening during rush hour a Corvette in front of me was having mechanical problems limping along. Next thing I know a Port Authority cop in the next lane over is yelling over the PA at me about tailgating. Once through the tunnel in NJ he waved me over and started telling me they have tailgate laws "up here" and was gonna write me a ticket. No real security, parking lot gates were open, we drove in, parked, went up to check in with "someone." We wanted to leave the trailer there overnight so we could go jump a mo-hotel. Christ!!! You'd a thought we are planning to rob the joint or "plant a bomb" or some shit!!! Later, we had to haul in lots of new equipment, including (back then) large CRT monitors. That’s the first time in my life that I’ve ever heard of truck driver say sashayed! The Port authority has never been audited so nobody knows how much money they have in the kitty between the tunnels the bridges the airports and other things they control they must have billions and billions of dollars but they don’t have the right equipment to unload something as simple as those brushes. A port authority cup is one of the highest paid in the country with mega benefits it’s just a sweetheart job. Am I jealous? Not really I retired after 50 years of trucking and I’m doing just fine, but I do miss it.

I had that happen to me and Jessie about a year ago in Arkansas. The Fire Department and the Police Department do not get along at all. I had to drop off a responder truck and 4 small portable generators for the Fire Department. I blocked a few patrol officers vehicle's. Cause I had no area to unload. 2 officers was really really pissed off. Both seen me and Jessie's guns on our hips. We are licensed to carry. One officer was an @$$hole. It got so bad the fire chief came out yelling. The Police Chief appeared and all hell broke lose. The Mayor arrived and told the Police Chief to go bleep himself. And told the 2 officers to get out of our sight. Jessie was like hurry up with unloading. We got the things unloaded and was happy to head out. Next thing the 2 officers appeared back and was saying that they want to kick my ass for blocking the street and the Mayor fired the Police Chief. Both of the Police Officers was terminated. Me and Jessie was happy leaving. She called Bosslady and she said not to ever let us come back to that city in Arkansas again. Bosslady said how bad was it. I sent her the video of the Mayor and the Police Chief getting into a nearly a fight.

The Black Couple sued for false charges against them and demand the officers face charges. The judge tossed out the case. And stated that there was no evidence. I usually get on and off to check how deep are my forks and else but when inside my cabin I'm moslty blind forward.
