The purpose of my channel is to enjoy watching cars that, in real life, couldn't possibly have competed together. There is no need to point out the obvious: they don't obey the same regulations, nor are they designed for the same purpose. Nevertheless, I try as much as possible to keep the comparison realistic within the imaginary borders defined by the video's core idea.

    I find it funny, how a car like the 962C ended up being the "Balanced" option to make lap time out of the three that were close. Because the 911 GT1-98 made all its lap time in the corners, while the 917/30 made it with its hyper speed mode because yisus that car is fast in a straight line but has none of the handling. Also, would've been nice to see the RS Spyder Evo from the late 2000's.

    I did not include the RS Spyder as it wasn't a "top class" car (LMP2 if I'm correct ?), but for sure it was fast !

    Fun fact, despite the time of the 919 Evo here being impressively fast, it's still not as fast as the fastest time set in the 2008 F1 Qualifying, where Felipe Massa set a time with the Ferrari of 1:17.287 in Q2. I don't know if the circuit has seen changes in the 15 years since, but I thought It'd be fun to mention.

    F1 in Fuji must be insane, as it was in Mugello. It's a pity these 1 or 2 years "one shot" races didn't last for longer. As you can see in the onboard of the 919 Evo in the video, there is clearly room for improvement. The first, very fast left turn after the start could be passed almost flat out for instance. 1'15 is realistic here with the 919 Evo.

    @@fabulouscarcharts5467 Yeah, I definitely think a 1:15 is possible in the 919 Evo. Fuji is just one of those tracks that perfectly suits the 919 Evo to be faster than an F1 car given the abundance of acceleration zones which is where the 919 Evo makes the entirety of it's lap time compared to F1 cars. So I do certainly believe the 919 Evo can be faster.

    You can find them on assettoworld.com quite easily ! But a lot of the cars in the video are vanilla.

    Surprised that 911 GT1 is that close to 962 and surprised that 917/30 is the faster of the three. Also surprised that 917K is the second slowest car in a straight line. Do old cars understeer like this in real life?

    The 917K really needs a huge straight to reach its top speed. It is not that powerful so it relies mainly on its low drag to have speed, not acceleration (compared to others).

    @@user-ne3rb8ps8j Yes, I was surprised too... But I think the car is quite realistic in terms of vmax, as it reaches decent speeds on old tracks like old Le Mans or old spa (370 km/h if I remember well)

    It is worth noting that the canam 917 has tuning parameters that don't exist for the others, like 120% (or so) turbo boost, etc. Since the car isnt a LeMans car anyway, like the 919 Evo, I thought it was okay to allow this kind of ultra hotlap settings

    @@fabulouscarcharts5467 why not - that's more interesting than without these tune-ups. Irl 917/30 had an overboost mode for qualifying in which the engine produced 1580hp...

    Old cars are smoking tyres. You can't do that very long c'mon. Driving sucks
