I drive the SQ5 for two years now and it is still lovely to touch the gas pedal and leave almost everything behind. Also the electronic generated sound fits so good to the car! Big love.

Cool! The best SUVs on the market.

2015/16 Porsche Macan S diesel has Sport chrono pack and sports exhaust - new for 15/16 model. May have made a difference, if only slight. SQ5 is a well sorted beast but I just can't stand the engineered V8 exhaust note - its something akin to putting a large rear spoiler on a little Lancer; it didn't need to sound like a V8, just a throaty 6pot like the Porsche would've been perfect.

Good friend of mine has one. Beast of a car.

Christina - the Turbo would have eaten the SQ5, plus it costs quite a bit more. That said, we have a couple more of these tests in the works :)

The Macan is only slower with the diesel version. Try comparing the petrol version of the SQ5 and the Macan S.

+Alex Fu The SQ5 have a Petrol Version ? In Germany they only sell the Diesel Version with 326 HP and 650 NM.

Guys, guys, guys, why are we still talking about the SQ5 diesel version? In Asia, next to noone drives diesel. And YES it might sound strange to you, but we do have a SQ5 Petrol Version. CoolmanEX The german diesel Version of the SQ5 is a beast. The SQ5+ have 350HP and 700 NM. The ABT Version comes wirh over 400HP and 800NM. I clocked the time and that beast got from 0-100 km/h (arround 1-60 Miles per hour) in 4.5 seconds. Thats damm good for an SuV. The women Porsche can go home against it.

The SQ5 has 313ps and 615Nm of torque, whilst the Macan Diesel S has a mere 258ps, I'd say well done to the Macan for keeping up with the Audi.

I have my second audi SQ5 first one 2013 second one 2017 and i am talking about the older model both. Love this model timeless

Bit of a "No shit sherlock" that test. Macan S Diesel’s 190kW and 580Nm against Audi SQ5’s 230kW and 650Nm? Was it EVER in doubt???

The two are with 3.0 L Diesel engine. And the price level is almost the same. Audi do really good with diesel engine.

It's a single turbo v twin turbo.. The porsche is euro 6 I don't know about the Audi. I think it's the same engine also apart from the porsche having a single turbo..

They should have raced the Macan Turbo against the SQ5

In Australia the SQ5 is $25000 cheaper than the similar spec'd Macan Diesel S (optioned equally). It has a larger boot with more usable space and a tiptronic automatic transmission which is more suitable to towing than the PDK unit (more robust) in the Macan (even though both vehicles are rated at 2400 kg braked towing capacity). As an all round package, the SQ5 is the better buy being not only faster, with more cargo space, and having better towing capacity (650Nm torque) over the Macan. The Macan may have slightly better handling over the SQ5 but both are heavy vehicles (almost 2 ton ea) and are not sports cars with a low centre of gravity. They are best suited for long sweeping turns instead of tight twisting roads due to their weight, COG and body roll characteristics.

I would still have the Porsche
