My brother-in-law was a cop and had something like that happen to him. Some dude was trying to sell him a sawed-off shotgun, that the idiot was carrying around in his car. The guy reached into the back seat and brought it out, only to see my BIL's badge. The poor fucker turned white as a ghost when he saw that. My BIL told him to take the damn thing home and just leave it there.

Undercover being the key word. At least in California/Washington/Oregon lots I haven't seen a undercover besides at the police department I intern at. He'd be bad at his job. We have some Border Patrol Agents who swap out a Bright Colored Caravan with a larger engine. You'd never tell because they actually did a GOOD job with the lights.
