think of the germans what you will. in building cars they have done an outstanding job ever since they invented the car back in 1886 or when it was. in this special case here ( porsche) we have walter röhrl setting up the cars. im sure if the motor sounded like an f1 car walter would slaw his fist ^^

Her level of trust in his ability, which is displayed by her keeping completely cool and even smiling throughout the lap, managed to impress me tremendously. I expected her to panic but no, she genuinely had fun and enjoyed the experience.

As a driver myself I can say that it’s nearly impossible for her to keep her head as still as her boyfriend as he knows exactly when he is going to break. The difference is visible in rally when the navigator is moving their head a lot compared to the driver and they are both highly trained.

I'm surprised she didn't end up with a massive headache the way her head was flopping around. Major props to her for smiling the entire trip.

One of the hardest things as a passenger is you don't know the exact moment the driver will brake, and in a race car braking is sudden and hard!

As someone who also races cars I find it odd that the passenger is never in a HANS device or has a full face helmet

I was thinking the same thing. Any passenger that is going for a full speed lap like these were should be afforded the same safety equipment that the driver gets. Especially the HANS device. She has weaker neck muscles and could have easily hurt herself with those G loads. This guy must be a sadist to put her through that.

Actually he is. You can see it under his right shoulder belt. Plus he's a seasoned racer and knows what to expect and his neck muscles are already strong enough and with his hands on the wheel for support he's not going to move around as much.

even in daily driving, it's always interesting to see how passengers react to the movements of the car. the driver does not have the same reaction because he is initiating it and knows what is coming.

yeah I've noticed that as well, especially if you push the car a little bit, you naturally brace for whatever is coming but the passengers just kinda flop around in their seat

And in that lap, he realised his gf was much heavier than he thought

When your partner is a racing driver you spend a lot of time around racetracks and cars, she tightened her own harness (badly I might add) which indicates she’s been sat in there before, the team member strapping her in left her to it and didn’t give any advice, she’s used to either being sat there or drives herself.

Driving any vehicle is much more easy than sitting along, my head would have done almost like that and that is why I drive. Well done ,girl !

are you sure? The cup cars have extra venting in the wheel wells for air entrance/exit. Other than that they have almost the same front chin and maybe a bit larger back wing.

Porsche cup car's have a lot more grip than regular gt3's ! Race tires, more downforce, less weight.. I've made some laps in a 997 cup on Ledenon and i can tell you need to be fucking taped to your seat ^^

Arthur Gourlaouen my street car got immance grip. this 991 is lighter and I assume it have stickier tires than mine. my 991.5 GT3 runs pilot sports cup2 and only way I'll break it loose is during hard turn, downshift and flooring it. it's a amazing machine for sure

Her helmet is not farstened up properly, she doesnt have the same neck protection as the driver.... but she experienced the ride like a champ.

Haha! Like. A. Boss. Girlfriends bobble heading, keeps throwing him glances, smiling nervously, but he only has eyes for the track and his racing line.

aside from not being able to really keep her head still she handled that like a boss lol of course part of the issue is the shoulder harnesses weren't tightened as much as they should've been imo, moved an awful lot within the seat. but all you ever see are them flipping out of their skin for the entire video.

Race cars can actually be quite cheap the caterham cup car is a good bet road legal and a complete weapon on track if you have time you could even build a formula Vee for like 5 grand
