I have a 2014 Cayman Base and I agree with everything you said about this car 💯. I prefer the PDK though, which is what I have, almost the perfect sports car🏎

I definitely prefer my 6-speed manual to the PDK automatic. I am not trying to shave a second or two off of lap times at the track. I am driving my car and enjoying it and a manual is much more fun than an automatic.

I love my base cayman

All the way here in Hawai'i. I enjoy mine, its the just right power and handling for the Island being there's a lot of traffic, its way better and a lot more nimble then my 1985 911 carrera.

The other thing about the base Cayman is that it's brakes are absolutely fantastic. If you are on track then I suppose they may not be sufficient, but they are incredible breaks that require so little effort.

It’s always great to see other Cayman owners revel in the beauty, precision and excellence of this mid-engine Porsche sports car. The only difference for me is I never make comparison to a 911, simply because the Cayman (981) is in a league of its own. Hopefully see you around the Cotswolds come spring time when my Cayman comes out to play ;)

Also, the comment you made about the Cayman’s ability is absolutely true. As a matter of fact we can never experience it’s capability except in two environments, the track and The Autobahn 🏎

If its the S (sports model) with PASM the original Porsche Sports exhaust and the Sports plus mode Chrono package PTV and finally PSM then yes you could compare a Cayman to a base 911. Problem is price wise new they would have cost about the same, second hand is different since the 911 has retained more of its value whilst the Cayman has lost about 50% on depreciation.

Great video, I have 2 Cayman S 987.1 and.2 now looking for 981 S MT, not easy to find with proper specs.

The 981 base has a very stiff suspension which is absolutely fantastic because I live in a very twisty windy road area and it is unbelievably on rails.

Manual is fab when you get the chance to open it up but the PDK is all round way better especially in traffic and around town.

The 981 is a better sports car than the 911 of the same years. The 911 is a great car but the 981 is a better sports car.

Mid engine > rear engine

Nice car, I am currently waiting for the prices to drop.
