This is my 996. As Luke said, there was nothing wrong with the tyres fitted, as it’s been stored away from the sun, but they were a dozen years old. I doubt I’ll use up a set of tyres anytime soon & so invested in new ones. Also, if I was to sell it in a few years, a next owner might understandably baulk. The car wasn’t cheap, but in all respects, it looks, smells and drives like a year-old 996. The 40th anniversary edition cars have that gorgeous GT silver paint, a more powerful motor and it now has a very good spec.

Nice car. I'd have changed the wheels as well as new tyres.

@@John_Wood_My wife doesn’t like the wheels either. Me, I like them. What type of wheels would you prefer if you were choosing? I’m not closed to the idea.

@@GT380man It's the polished chrome like finish - are they stock? I'd probably have them powder coated.

@@John_Wood_they are the factory 40j finish. I think they look good on GT silver.

@@John_Wood_Apparently they’re a special finish, shot blasted and polished. I don’t think there’s a clearcoat. Just been out for a lovely sunny afternoon drive in the Kentish countryside. It sounds wonderful and everything is spot on.

You all consistently have the *best* 996/997 content out there. Thanks for keeping it up. Would love someday to see an episode where you showcase the cars that you personally own and drive. I'm imagining that Ollie keeps an old Hilux around that he never has to lay a glove on...

So very true! I remember when the work area only had one lift. Luke and Ollie have the formula worked out: hard work + knowledge + honesty + value = success.

Wow! I’ve been watching your videos for years. Not in any particular order. In fact one last night was when you first switched over from outsourcing maintenance to having a 2 post lift fitted. Now you’ve got four 😊

Ollie makes it look easy - but he's probably done 100 IMS bearings. 😁

Only thing I don't like about a 40th is the chrome alloy. Really surprised it didn't come with PSE from the factory, too. I have a C4S with PSE. I replaced my knackered silencers with Top Gear silencers and added the 200 cell X pipe cats. That sounds way better than the factory setup, in my opinion.

Silly question but does PCCM installed in one country work in another?

I think so, but you’d need to change the tiny memory card in the front to suit the country.
