Porsche 924 GTP 1982 24 Hours of Le Mans (Part 1)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

At the 1982 24 Hours of Le Mans Porsches won every category, however, most notably the IMSA GT class was taken by a Porsche 924 driven on street tires. BFGoodrich sponsored two Porsche 924 GTP cars in the IMSA GT class. Car 86 was driven by Paul Miller, Pat Bedard and Manfred Schurti and retired the race. Car 87 was driven by Jim Busby, Doc Bundy and Marcel Mignot and finished 16th place overall and 1st in their class. BF Goodrich was committed to racing on “street-legal” tires with partially-shaved tread depth and both cars ran on those tires. Furthermore, car 87 ran the entire race and won its class using just five tires. Only one tire was changed early in the race simply to check the wear rate, and the car ran to the finish line without any other changes.
