Fantastic !!! Loved the distinctions between por and porque. Gracias!🎉 In some of the examples i was translatingvinto imperfect where you had preterite. I would so appreciate hearing more from you (and potentially your lovely wife!!) about how native speakers hear differences in meaning. (I know with time and practice this will help me make better choices.)

I just started relearning Spanish again about a month ago. Your videos are so clearly explained and very helpful. Something I’ve been struggling with understanding is when to use “en” vs “de” for the word “in”. I can’t seem to figure out why some instances use “de”.

Great video! Qroo Paul is right about the importance of prepositions used with verbs. We English speaking students sometimes find Spanish pronouns and preposition/verb phrases difficult. I found a book, "Spanish Pronouns and Prepositions", By Dorothy Richmond, is an excellent reference and study guide for English speakers. I bought a used copy, and it has a big list of common verb/preposition combinations. I hope Qroo Paul does a video series on pronouns and pronominal verbs. Gracias!

That is the tough part. It just takes practice and repetition.

Despedir it's also used to say "to eject". He had a car accident and was ejected from his seat: tuvo un accidente (de auto) y fue despedido del asiento.

Great video, as always. Love the tangents! And then there are the differences between por qué, porque, porqué, o por que. Of course it only matters in written Spanish. I noticed you did follow the rules on this in your written examples. I find I still end up looking these differences up when I’m writing something in Spanish where I want to be certain my accents are all correct. 😊

Some Spanish speakers are a little "lazy" when it comes to writing all of the accent marks, even though they know that's grammatically incorrect, but if you want to write 100% correct Spanish, you have to write them correctly.Take into account that there are words which have two "versions", one with an accent mark, and the other without it, because they have different meanings, and are pronounced differently, of course.

Is despedirse de is an example of a reciprocal verb, since people se goodbye to each other?

Only of it is used that way. Nos despedimos - we said good bye to each other. Otherwise, it is not reciprocal. María se despidió de Juan. Maria said good bye to Juan.

I don't speak any Spanish right now I'm a complete newbie but I have found some of your videos and said that I was going to take a look at them. If I want to learn Spanish from beginner to expert should I start with your cero to conversational lessons first ? Do all them and then sign up for something or what is the best way to learn from you?

Yes, start with the CERO series first. Spanish is not a very linear process. People learn things in different orders. It's like collecting Legos. Many of my videos will help you add more "Legos" to your set. After CERO, check out the titles and see what interests you.

@QrooSpanish I don't know if this makes any difference or not but I'm going to Mexico for probably 5 or 6 months starting next month so I could probably learn by just here and the words that you teach and build on it? Also I noticed that you have a course for $10 a month on the skool app will that teach me anything additional after I get through the original lessons ?

Being in Mexico will help but only if you push yourself out of your comfort zone to learn. I have friends who have lived in Mexico for many years and have never learned it. The Skool community has reseources and content that may help you. It has a community secion where people ask and answer questions about the language, exclusive videos and content -- as well as live events with native speakers. We had a two hour lesson with a native speaker from Mexico this weekend via Zoom,

They fired him for arriving late = use por? They fired him because he arrived late = use porque? Are these both valid sentences? Which would be more natural?

They would both be acceptable. The one with POR would be the most natural sounding choice here. But again, either is fine.

Can you say estamos por nuestro cuenta to mean we're on out own?

Just one. Only the first verb is conjugated and then you pop on infinitives.

Spanish Speaker here!: I think what you are talking about is a verbal periphrasis (in spanish's gramatic ). It's an action specified by two verbs giving a new meaning when they are compound. A main verb "solía" and an auxiliary verb "recoger". Anyway, the second verb should be in infinitive form: - Yo "solía recoger" los juguetes cuando era niño. - Ella "solía salir" a los clubes cuando era joven. - Él "solía cocinar" para sus hijos cuando eran pequeños. - Yo "solía estar" contentísimo cuando cobraba el salario. Also you can just say: - Yo "solía recoger" los juguetes. - Ella "solía salir" a los clubes. - Él "solía cocinar" para sus hijos. - Yo "solía estar" contentísimo. Here "solía" is in "pasado imperfecto", the infinitive form is "soler", meaning "used to + auxiliary-verb". Never use it like: - Yo "solía recogía" los juguetes. Because it sounds like two actions that do not have conection each other. I would be wondering what action took place first, to eventually ask: Qué? (What?).

I was under the impression that after por or para you always use the infinitive version of a verb. That's how I remember it, anyway.

Usas por qué, cuando estás preguntando, y porque cuando estás respondiendo a una pregunta, además está porqué, el cual se trata de un sustantivo que indica causa. Aquí unos ejemplos del uso de estos ¿Por qué llegaste tarde? Porque había mucho tráfico No sabía el porqué de tu retraso
