Wonderful! I would love to see more videos like this. There are a few that I know from this time period such as VIA "Ariel" and Zemlyane.

It all seems rather "sexless"...I mean, Western popular music is/was basically about "getting down" to a large extent. Soviet popular music seems like it was more kind of "cultural" and "cerebral".

I enjoy listening to Plastic People of the Universe. Soviet government imprisoned them for playing. And that didnt stop them from continuing.

As a guitarist myself I'm fascinated by the Soviet era guitars. Most of them I've seen were very crudely made with non standard output jacks and oddball switches and knobs. The brand name Ural springs to mind.

They were terrible guitars. They were spread throughout the Soviet Bloc and, for example, because the strings were placed too high above the frets, they made it impossible to play with certain techniques and more advanced playing in general, while teaching bad habits. Musicians recall the switch to the Stratocaster etc. - how a host of unknown musical worlds suddenly opened up under their fingers.

Lets be honest. While this is cool from a historical viewpoint. The music is flat, tasteless and awful.
