Remembrance Poppies | Red Flowers | Polymer Clay Poppy Tutorial
This is an advanced polymer clay tutorial to create red red poppy flower canes which you can turn into pins for Remembrance Day or any other creative DIY need. Some polymer clay techniques you should already be familiar with are Bullseye Caning and Skinner Blending. In this tutorial I create a petal cane with a stamen flower part and gradated color effect. There are 3 variations of this poppy shown in the video depending on how large you want the stamen to be and how you tweak the petals.
Tutorial on skinner blending:
In this video, I used a variation of the skinner blend called, the "Simmons" skinner blend. Instead of the Simmon's, you can use the regular Skinner Blend, which I go over step by step in this video:

List of Clay Ratios:
PETAL LINE PATTERN
• 37g to make the large red sheet (rolled through setting 0 of my pasta machine)
• 16g to make the small red sheet (setting 2)
• 20g to make the black sheet (setting 2)
RED GRADIENT LOAF (Simmon's Skinner Blend)
• Red Sheet 86g (starting before cuts)
• Dark Red Sheet 86g (starting before cuts)
*NOTE: Simmon's Skinner Blend requires a lot more clay to start with, but what actually get used is about a third (1/3) or a fourth(1/4) the original amount. After cutting the sheets into the Simmon Skinner Shapes, it totaled to about 36g of clay.
CORE (Simmon's Skinner Blend)
• Olive Sheet 19g (starting before cuts)
• Dark Olive Sheet 19g (starting before cuts)
NOTE: After cutting the sheets into the Simmon Skinner Shapes, actual clay used is 16g.

Hi all, wanted to add a correction at 7:12 - "the amount actual clay used is about 36 grams" - I meant to say 78grams instead of 36 grams.

I LOVE all of your tutorials! May I make one suggestions please? Remove the background music please as it’s nothing but distracting from your beautifully laid out instructions. I find myself having to rewind sometimes to listen over again because the music is so loud. Other than that, your tutorials are amazing and have helped me so much! Ty!!!
