I watch blacksmithing on youtube and I think there's a lot of overlap in techniques for doing patterned damascus steel blacksmithing. You have to plan how to shape, cut and join to get the pattern right.

I'm watching your video and the rope knot looks like a cross. How about making an intricate Celtic knot cross, sort of like a Maltese cross next? Or in the future? That bowl is killer!
