Pope Pius XII Speaking 7 Languages
Pope Pius XII (Eugenio Pacelli - March 2, 1876 - October 9, 1958) was Pope of the Catholic Church from 1939 until his death in 1958. He spoke fluently seven languages: Italian, Latin, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and English. His mother tongue was Italian. As a young man he learned Latin, French, Spanish and German. His Holiness learned Portuguese in a few weeks with a private teacher during a stay in Buenos Aires in order to be able to speak the language on his future trip to Rio de Janeiro. He learned English while he was Cardinal Secretary of State, perfecting it as Pope in his numerous conversations with British and American troops during the Allied occupation of Rome. His Holiness' most outstanding linguistic achievement came in Rome at the opening of the 1936 International Catholic Press Congress, when, as Secretary of State, he addressed that meeting in seven languages.

@@Big-guy1981 the media can say whatever they want but he saved hundreds of thousands of Jews which was acknowledged by chief rabbi Zolli of Rome who even converted to Catholicism in admiration of Pius XII. But yea unfortunately his name is very controversial
I came to the video thinking that his portuguese would be slow and funny, but I'm surprised to see how good was the pronunciation of His Holiness. He talked in an accent that reminds the way people in Rio speaks. Impressive!
Languages aside, he was a very talented orator. His mannerisms display the passion of him words excellently.

Those are exactly the 7 language I propose for my life, I say that in 8 years, if I don't waste time, I could achive it God willing .
It's amazing Pope Pius XII and all popes can speak so many languages. I'd travel the world if I knew so many of them.

I m in shock right now.. How does he manages all of the vocabularies ?
He’s rolling his r’s in French and German, both of which don’t have a rolled r sound in any standard dialect (they’d use a gutteral fricative).
His portuguese is really impressive, it's looks like someone that passed a lot of time in Brazil or Portugal.
The way he rolls the R in German reminds me a bit of how Swiss people speak German (specifically High German), but he was in Germany when he was Nuntius. Spanish is a bit of a mix between Spanish and Latin American because of how he pronounced the C and the Z and uses grammar from Spain. And his Portuguese sounds like from Portugal. Where I live, it's more common to hear Brazilian Portuguese, which is a bit slower and has a bit of a different pronounciation than Portuguese from Portugal.

They are future Popes during Pius XII they are suffered from their countries who are enemies of WWII Nazism Communism and later these future Popes became friends to fight these regimes
As he sits in that Throne, & his head is aligned so the chair back, gives the Roman flower around his head. How Roman Catholic can you get ?
We do have to take notice that this is an epoch without available languages books, prepared teacher, duolingo, memrise or these things. Even if reading a text during a talk in those times would be tremendous!

Molto colto Pio Xll Bergoglio invece parla solo italiano..........cosicché la nostra lingua sarà un poco di più conosciuta. Magrissima consolazione.
Sería bueno que el próximo papa fuese oceánico (australiano o neozelandés), es el único continente que falta a un papa para ser originario. Ya habido europeos, asiáticos (específicamente de medio oriente), africanos (tunesinos, argelinos y libios), además de uno americano (argentino).

é aceitável e vale lembrar que o papa morreu em 1958 , então o modo de falar é de uma outra época, algumas expressões não são mais utilizadas com frequência como "labutar"

Respeite o Papa. Se coloque em seu lugar e entenda que a Santa Igreja é hierárquica, o Papa deve ser respeitado pela autoridade que ele representa, ele é o Vigário de Cristo. Ainda que haja qualquer divergência, nada lhe dá o direito de levantar falsas acusações contra ele ou desrespeitá-lo.
