More than just wanting to go be Rockstars.. they want a change. New scenery, excitement , adventure , escape from all the people, places and problems they've developed over years of being trapped in a small town. Wanna forget the place every heartbreak every wasted day every mistake. Just want to start fresh and forget the pain .
Everyone has to hate their hometown for no reason! It's part of the pop punk code! Blame the town and the "small-minded people" that "hold you back" - and go looking for something that you had all along. Why not!

@@rolandschmitt3692 I think it's more along the lines of "the grass is always greener on the other side." There's a Pop Punk hatred of suburbia and how it's so "boring" and holding them back etc. but really the ultimate deliverance from problems of feeling closed in/restricted/unappreciated can only be found inside the individual person. Satisfaction and acceptance can't really be found anywhere unless you have it in yourself first. But the Pop Punk feelings are still genuine - I just think they're a bit misguided but heck, most people on planet Earth are misguided in one way or another. Everyone's searching for the answer.

Country: I love my hometown Pop punk: I hate my hometown
had a huge pop punk phase that i never really outgrew. i feel like pop punk kinda went away after 2019 so this video was a pleasant surprise that made me super nostalgic
Oh man! The generational idea of seeking better horizons away from birthplace and youth. Honestly given my own personal circumstances, i left for 2 years, loved it; wound up back, hating it and dying to leave again.
A day to remember really said they hate their town only to make Ocala their first track of common courtesy

Pop punk bands hate this town because mom and dad don't understand in the summer
Because pop punk bands aren't actually punk, they can only think about how shit towns are instead of the systemic issues that make them shit.
