    Happy Easter Sky and Family. You know, the exhaust sound is to me one of the most important parts of the build. I have bought cars because of engine sound, and re-done exhaust systems on cars multiple times to get it to sound just right. I think the most exciting part is firing it up for the first time. I'm one of those like it or hate it, so more than once I fired it up, hated it, ordered parts and let it sit while I waited for them. I'm very much into a raspy sound, which is hard to do just right. Can't wait to hear how it sounds because I am doing a single turbo, and thus a merged setup also. I'm going to be honest, and at least for my LS, I think I'm going to hate the sound, but we'll just have to see. Man those pie cut welds are awesome!

    I think that is a great call putting those on. When you talked about drone I know exactly what you mean. It's fun to have it for a while but it gets old and wrecks wanting to just cruise for fun. This is a great solution. I'm excited to hear this beat running!

    admittedly i was initially disappointed when you said you were gonna keep the stock exhaust to the back. But you made some fair points about it just going to be monstrously loud if you didnt, and that the boost sounds would be more prevalent which is a huge benefit. Im super excited to hear this thing start up and see what it can do!

    Always look forward to your content ready to see this beast running.🤘🤘🤘. The exhaust I built on my magnum obviously no turbos lol. But starts off with shorty headers into 3 inch catless midpipes to 2.5 inch exhaust piping with flowmaster 40s and 4 inch tips. Definitely a different sound than I was expecting when I originally built my exhaust. But I think once I replace the shorty headers and mid pipes with longtubes it'll sound Lil better

    I'd be interested in seeing if there are changes in the data stream between running the car with the dumps open versus running through the factory exhaust. Manifold vacuum mass air sensor numbers as well as how the fuel trim percentages change. I would recommend some aftermarket engine mounts on this car with how tight the clearance is on the exhaust to the chassis. I've replaced so many broken driver's side engine mounts on the 300 chargers and challengers. They just break idk why but considering this car is twin charged it's probably going to be an issue to address.

    There is a lot of work in that exhaust. Hope it does not get ripped up pulling in a parking lot. Kinda surprised that you kept the factory suitcase muffler and head pipes. One of my Chargers I deleted the suitcase muffler and kept the Resonators and there is no drone even with MDS kicked in and is not loud at all. That muffler is heavy and puts a lot of heat under the car. It does have the stock Cats as I live in AZ with emissions requirement so they may act a little like a muffler. Can't wait to hear yours run. I will be interested to see what it takes to tune it with both centrifugal and direct displacement air pumps.

  • @ReignitedAuto

    @ReignitedAuto

    Жыл бұрын

    Ya I really hope I don't rip the exhaust off by momentarily forgetting about it 😄. And I also agree that tuning it with the differing air systems could be a challenge. I'll be using speed density as the stock system does, so I'm hoping that simplifies it because it's just relying on a MAP sensor that determines exactly how much air is in the intake manifold and doesn't take into account how it got there. 👍

  • @Rickgyver001

    @Rickgyver001

    Жыл бұрын

    @@ReignitedAuto It is true with speed density the system doesn't care how the air mass gets there. Just how it can react to making sure the fuel is right quick enough. So many fun topics like if the turbo will spool faster with the blower helping. I use HP Tuners and the stock computer. The biggest hurdles I have had are the Idle PID's and the torque management always kicking in trying to protect the drivetrain.😁

    Great fabrication Sky, but in my option its still a waste to step down to the RT exhaust, I would at least look for an SRT exhaust to use (2.75) anything LX/LC SRT exhaust should work, would just need to extend it 4" if you get an LC

  • @ReignitedAuto

    😄 they are loud for sure. The 392 engines actually come with little insulator pads that sit on top of the rails to help dampen the sound. Not sure if they're available individually but they'll easily adapt to the 5.7 engines. Alternatively you can come up with something yourself, there's no danger in covering the rails 👍

    Darn shame you don't have a discord so I can badger you with odd questions there. So the MDS system runs on oil pressure levels, correct? The owner's manual says to stay with 5w20 if using MDS features as 5w30 could prevent MDS from working properly, or damage it. 5w30 would supposedly increase oil pressure, which you proved is helpful for the tick in 5.7's and 6.4's. I'm fine with that, but my brain doesn't work in black and white rules. I was juggling the idea of mixing 5 quarts of 5w20 and 2 quarts of 5w30 to effectively make 5w23 for summer use. That would bring up the max suggested ambient operating temp up from 68f to 75f, and the oil would still be moderately thin as it's a 5:2 ratio of the thin:thick. What are your thoughts? Also, being Lucas Oil Heavy Duty is uhhhhhh... Thicc, wouldn't that also inhibit the function of the MDS system since it's in theory creating more oil pressure? stuff acts like 20w40. If I'm using Pennzoil Ultra Plat full Synth, would I be better off using Lucas Oil Full Synth? Should I? Something like 5 quarts 5w20, 1 quart 5w30, 1 quart Lucas Oil Heavy Duty/Full Synth/Low Viscosity? I guess would any combination I asked about directly impact my MDS features? You've been a dodge mechanic for 12 years so you're a great guy to ask. Thanks Sky! I know you're busy. Good luck in the race this Fall!

  • @TJMunger

    @TJMunger

    I answered my own question. I found the D445 kinematic viscosity ratings at 100C by oil type and lucas oil additive type. The 100C viscosity ratings are 5w30 - 10.3 5w20 - 8.8 LO Low Viscosity - 19.7 LO Pure Synthetic - 45 LO Heavy Duty - 110 Pure Synthetic and Heavy Duty are immediately off the table. Lowest mixed option if I use Lucas Oil: 6 parts 5w20:LOLV = 9.8 @ 100C - not far from the viscosity of of plain 5w30, which leads me to believe that it may impact MDS function if it noticeably raises the oil pressure any. I also have my vvt solenoid to take into consideration. The other option would be to go 6:1 w20 and w30, which would raise my viscosity to just 9.0, only .2 higher than full 7 quarts of w20. Thoughts?

  • @ReignitedAuto

    @ReignitedAuto

    Жыл бұрын

    I'm far from an oil engineer myself, my preference is to stick with the factory 5-20 oil, non synthetic. As for the increased oil pressure at idle I advocate to achieve that by additional oil volume using a larger oil pump. The pressure increase is merely a byproduct of the increased flow. If you artificially inflate the oil pressure by going with a thicker viscosity your creating a placebo effect because it looks like you made a difference, when really it's just reflecting that the new oil is harder to push through the engine you haven't increased the AMOUNT of oil being pushed through. Check out the pinned comment at the top for the latest video and information on this issue. 👍

    @@ReignitedAuto Oh I watched the hellcat oil pump vid, but I lack the gumption to actually make the step to take my timing cover off lol. The whole placebo effect idea makes a lot of sense though, and I will probably stick with 5w20 then over all given that. Thanks again.
