Just a little extra info for anyone painting around a pool. Years ago I was spraying further away from the pool than you were the overspray floated on to the water filter picked it all up plugged up cost me over $300 . Now I always cover the whole pool . Lots of pools in so cal

If the fiberglass is showing through how do you fix it?

I have the same slide I went to home Depot and bought the clear acrylic gloss paint in a can, sprayed it on and it's lasted me 6 years ...you just put it over the old paint it works like a charm, so slippery. cost me $14$

I can honestly say I never painted a pool slide, but I painted David Hasselhoff's tennis court back in the day :)

I have not painted a slide before, but the early morning may also have less wind. Nice colors!

For small jobs the handheld Graco is great. I have the Ultimate MX which can spray hot solvents. Like the fact that you can use the FFLP tips. Does takes about five or so rinses to get it thoroughly clean.

West Marine Fiberglas boat paint.

I have the same exact slide and I've used CLR for the rust and then used Marine boat bottom paint. Great video and keep em coming.

Where do you get the multi-surface acrylic paint from? Is it premade or do you have them mix in the color you want?

I had same issue at multiple paint stores not knowing what to use. Please do a post season update on the project, even a one or more year update to show how it holds up. You've hit on a big subject here in the south where most homes have pools!

I just painted my slide yesterday. Should I put any polish on it or does it slide fine with just the paint.

Did y'all sand it? Or was that paint allow to just.respray and go to spraying without sanding? Nice work eitherway

You guys should check out the Sherwin Williams "Polane" line of products for things that need an extremely durable, chemical and abrasion resistant and long lasting high performance coating. These are catalyzed products and provide a bullet proof finish. Sprays like a dream via HVLP The 2 products I used primarily in the past are: POLANE HS Plus Polyurethane Enamel Works great on a variety of substrates, the high solids has a great look I used to use it primarily to re-finish counter-tops and fiberglass tubs Counter tops Formica: scuff sand with 100 grit we-dry sandpaper, wipe down surface with laquor thinner Cultured Marble or fiberglass: Scuff sand with a scotch-brite, wipe down surface with laquor thinner Polane® B Polyurethane Enamel Works great on a variety of substrates, I used to use it primarily to re-finish porcelain tubs (acid washed first)

Can this paint be used on cinderblock?

Question:for spraying pre cat lacquer a respirator mask with the 6002 filter cartridges will be good enough or Do i need an special one,I heard it is very toxic,thank you

Doesn't over-spray get on everything that's uncovered (bushes, concrete pad where the wind carries, ect)? That's the reason I haven't sprayed anything outdoors... Let me know thank you!!

If a fibreglass is submerged in chlorinated swimming pool or salt chlorinated water, what kind of paint should i use? Will multi surface acrylic work as well?

Just wondering why you didn't use gel coat? My 40+ year old slide (same one you have) only needs an occasional buff to return the shine.

@@angelatovell7178 Wet sanded it first, then went to the local boat shop and got an oxydation remover for fiberglass boats. A mild one so as not to remove to much as it is an old slide. I use a cheap buffer, but not an orbital, you need higher RPM's from Harbor Freight. It's all I use it for.

Do a new pool painting video with epoxy paint! Also interesting call on the MSA. I might have specced another Pro Industrial product, the Pre Catalyzed Water Based Urethane for the UV resistance or maybe even Water Based Acrolon 100 as an absolute best option, but MSA seems to work just fine!

Feedback on the Graco handheld, does it clean well, and provide consistent performance? Which model did you go with? I know the higher priced ones are supposed to be able and handle different coatings. Thanks for your feedback and the videos!

I have the top grade one and they are great for small projects, on this slide you’d have to refill too many times to even make it worth it. I’d just use a small pump with a short hose instead.

Definitely use a gel coat if you want the best surface possible. You will need to fine sand it and then polish it but it will be a much more permanent solution. Painting will only last a few years at most. Gel coat is much more difficult to work with, but if used it is the best way to go.

Can u record up close when u paint something because you do it from a distance and can’t even see any details.

You can brush it

Don't make it hard, if it doesn't need fiber glass repair, buy dolphinite gel coat spray paint cans. You don't have to buy the spray equipment, buy excess expensive gel coat, mix colors or deal with clean up. They'll even mix custom colors into the cans, and you can custom the paint job, so if it's just a spot, or you want to do the channel, have at it.

Dolphinite's website says: We are experiencing unprecedented shortage in some of the materials needed to make ANY OF OUR GEL-COAT COLORS. WE REGRET AND ARE FRUSTRATED THAT WE CANNOT MAKE ANY OF OUR PRODUCTS AT THIS TIME. We will add the colors back to our website once we can supply it again.

No PPE for me lol.

I’d use swimming pool paint, 2 part epoxy

Not trying to be a smart ass here, at all. Just a question really. Did you guys consider a boat gel coat/fibreglass speciffic enamel. These are made for fibreglass, while being able to withstand water !! This product you used, will not last !!! I know you have a business to run, but you do not want a call for a waranty issue !!!

What product would you use to paint a waterslide with constant water flow? And can withstand freezing temperatures?
