Building a Preformed Pond (with a few extras)
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
A full walk through and how to guide on installing a preformed pond. In this video we build a slate style pond from scratch and install all the neccasary products to run a successful pond for goldfish and koi. We installed the pump, filter, air pump and lighting as well as the pond itself. Let us know what you think!

Kudos to the homeowners for bringing ya tea. I have a garage fridge and whenever I have folks doing work for me I always say, "Anything in the garage fridge is fair game." It's funny how surprised people are about it and how at first they don't want to partake. I'm in the US and this seems to be sort of weird here. lol

Here in the U.K. it would be weird if you weren’t offered a cup of tea 😁
I never in a million years thought I would be subscribed to a channel like yours. I don't own fish, they actually make me feel all goose bumpy when I see them, but I absolutely love they way you explain things and present your videos. I find it all really interesting and have now got a new appreciation for fish and pond life. Keep the videos coming and keep up the good work. Xxx

That’s the highest of compliments we’ve had. Thank you Beverly! Glad you found us, and I’m glad you enjoy our relaxed way of presenting videos. We will keep the videos coming if you promise to keep watching them ❤️

It’s the beard isn’t it!? It’s worthy of subscribing for alone! (The content is awesome though as well so doesn’t hurt) ❤
I feel tired just watching the pair of you 😂. Seriously though amazing to see the amount of hard work that goes into setting up such a lovely pond and also to see all the extras available to upgrade. Perhaps in the future you could do a short follow up to see how the plants and fish brought the pond to life !!!

It was a tough two days, mainly because of all the digging involved. I’m glad you liked the pond. We do always try and visit ponds again and do an update whenever we can so stick around and I’m sure you will how the pond gets on 😁
the welsh slate looks superb around the pond, so lucky to have so much of it on your doorstep lads!

Very nice pond. Seeing the one guy digging with a flat shovel was painful and not using a wheel barrow vs that small bucket?!
@Mountain_Aquatics

We had a barrow. But the pile we were making was right next to the hole. Also, we had multiple spades and shovels. We mixed it up a bit 🤷♂️
Well I've jumped around your catalogue of videos, excellent stuff. Will be doing my own pond in a year or two. House renovation first. But lots of useful hints and tips . And can see me buying Blagdon now 😂. New subscription I do want to go neutral fish , roach , tench , gudgeon etc.

It’s not too far away mate, ordering some fish any day now 👍🏻
Hello from Indiana USA. The soil you were digging up looked lovely and loose. Is that typical for your part of the world? In our area the soil tends toward heavy clay and I would not want to dig a pond by hand! Thank you for bringing us along on another job.
@Mountain_Aquatics

Ye so would say this is fairly typical of this area but probably on the better side. Took us almost a full day for two people to dig
This video was brought to you by Blagdon

It all works together so well 🤷♂️
Would be interested in the total costs of the build. I used to have a pond in a previous property I rented, added some goldfish and they were very happy in there and even bred, they were regularly fed an ended up crucian shaped rather than gold fish shape. Didn't have a filter (is it absolutely necessary?) but did have a pump and waterfall and plants. All very healthy as there were newts, no tadpoles, guess the fish mopped them up, plenty insect life in the sludge/mud. It was the same size as this one, so I am looking at putting one in the garden next year. Would you say there was a better time of the year or will any time do. Got to find some one do do some digging though 😁

How deep do I dig? I have a smaller version of your pond
@Mountain_Aquatics

I cannot say without seeing the dimensions sorry. They should have the dimensions online for you.
This is probably my own ignorance, but would there be a downside to having a small pond with a lighter hull instead of black? Could one make it lighter blue or green?
@lilian.embucgo
10 ай бұрын
Also, I guess as a follow up, if the preformed pond comes in black, what could one use to paint the inside? Would it be doable?
@Mountain_Aquatics

You can get fibreglass ponds in almost any colour. But I think it is just that black is the most popular so that’s the one manufacturers chose to concentrate on. Blue looks nice I think

@@Mountain_Aquatics Thank you so much for getting back to me and answering my question!! 😊
Have you ever had one of these "lifted" by ground water? What is that brand name, cannot quite get that audio?🦇
@Mountain_Aquatics
3 ай бұрын
Never had one lifted. Would have to have been built in an area not really suitable for a pond. The brand is Blagdon

@@Mountain_AquaticsWow, not expecting that quick of an answer. Thanks so much. You could be right. I think water runs to that low area and goes under liner. Installer, 15 years ago or so, said " we could put a drain under it". Well, that was a great idea when we had the open hole and a back hoe on site!!! You are very kind and thanks again.🦇
