Pontinha | Lisbon's Metro

Pontinha (AZ)
This station, inaugurated in 1997, was designed by the architect Ana Nascimento and contains works of art by Jacinto Luís. The building has a unique design, with the atrium above ground and entrances on both sides. From the atrium, you have direct access to the platforms. It has domes and other glass surfaces that allow sunlight to reach the floor of the boarding platforms.
This station is located at the Pontinha bus terminal.
// Accessibility
The station is accessible at street level, with no steps. Inside, two elevators allow access to the boarding platforms. There is tactile pavement on the boarding piers. Audio and visual announcements are available at the station.
ML 90
This series of 56 carriages was manufactured between 1993 and 1996 and was distinguished, at the time, by its large windows.
ML 95
This series of 114 carriages was manufactured between 1997 and 1999 and was distinguished, at the time, by the single glass on the front of the cabin.
ML 97
This series of 54 carriages was manufactured in 1999 and was distinguished at the time for being the first metro trains with open gangways in Portugal, allowing passengers to freely move throughout the train.
ML 98
This series of 114 carriages was manufactured between 2000 and 2002 and is the latest generation.
// Accessibility
The Lisbon Metro trains do not have places for people in wheelchairs, access being made with portable ramps placed by the station staff. However, there are priority places for the elderly, pregnant women, and people with reduced mobility. All trains have audible and visual warnings.
